Drag's Post #556
It's not that I had a weird dream, it's just that I had one of those "what is my brain doing that makes me dream?" moments.

Basically, I took a nap. Very frequently in my dreams, I imagine video games that don't exist. Every game is so detailed and game-like. It's not just this broad concept or anything, I see every detail very clearly.

I was imagining a game's overworld. Each section of the overworld had its own theme, its own song, too. To get to different sections of the overworld, there's a cannon which is on some tracks. You hop into the cannon, it moves along the track with a machine whirring noise, aims, and shoots you to the next section.

The thing that really gets me is the music I was hearing. They were amazing! They were completely original, too. It's as though my mind has some kind of music sequencer built-in. I was in one section at the end of this dream, and I was playing around with this imaginary sequencer. I can't believe my mind was able to create such awesome music all on the spot. I heard every bit of the song with clarity. Every note from every instrument. It was all very intricately defined.

Then I woke up, and I couldn't remember a single song. Why is it so hard to remember stuff in dreams? And HOW was I able to create such music at such real-time speed? In reality, creating music takes me a long time, because I usually have to wait for a melody to come to me.

It really depresses me that I can't remember any of the music, I really wish I could share it.

Edit: It's more like, I'd really like to figure out how to get my brain into that mode, where it composes complete things at high speeds. I wasn't just hearing melodies, I was hearing entire songs...

I had a waking dream the other night. I was just sitting, playing DS, and then I was looking up at a mountain.
And yet part of me was still focused on the DS.

I also had a bizarre dream the other night.

I was coming upstairs from youth group, except the place we normally go to was rearranged, maybe backwards. We went in this room, and there was 80's decor. Ugly wallpaper, dirty carpet, etc. There's this ancient looking TV in the middle of the room, with a knob channel changer and everything. A guy turns it on, and boom, I'm in the middle of an island. There's this heavy fog all around me. I start running, and I seem to know exactly where I'm going. I pass a few burnt-down firepits along the way. As I near the beach (I think...) I start seeing orange and the whole island is on fire. I walk around for a bit, then wake up.

EDIT: What the hell? I double posted...

I had five dreams last night.

In one, I saw a really weird pillow. In another, I told someone about how I'd had a dream about a really weird pillow.

...I honestly don't know what to make of it.

I have nearly complete control over my dreams. I had one last night in which I realized it was a dream and then brought my full consciousness into it. Thence I saw some of my relatives and spoke to them, especially my dead Grandfather. Of course, the dream had elements that have been repeated over and over again--the only 'new' part was my grandfather attempting to prevent rain from entering his house--seemingly, a symbol of preventing more tragedy from befalling his family.

Of course, I attempted to use my dream powers against it, but not even the telekinesis I have in my dreams could keep the 'rain' out, at least not unless I dedicated myself to it for the entire dream. Clearly a severe sign, if it isn't just made up by my subconsious.

I also once had a long series of 'battle' dreams, in which I had earlier refined the lucidity ability (turns a nonlucid dream into one) and attacks (Currently, I can summon weapons out of mid-air, use telekinesis, teleport, run really fast and leap very high.)

Of course, thanks to this, not many of my dreams are interesting, for I believe they know I have defeated them. I used to be plagued by nightmares, see, and I killed them all brutally using these powers I developed. So I guess my subconsious went "You win, argh" and gave up. :p

Of course... the byproduct of this awareness ability is I can be pretty sure that the dead cannot really contact you in dreams, but rather they are reflections of your memories and thoughts.

Strangely, most of my dreams have been ending with me questioning something in my dream.

Strange how I would question something like that while eating the moon.

This occasionally happens to me. I remember clearly one dream where I was, ironically, dreaming that I was laying in bed trying to go to sleep. It felt like I was awake (which, when you're awake, you know it), but I knew I wasn't because of the music I heard. It was the classic Super Mario Bros. tune from the NES. All of it. Perfectly-reproduced, even the notes/percussion I never think about.

Original tunes pop up from time to time as well, and they're just as spectacular as what happens to Drag. I've personally done a lot of research into what makes a composition sound good, and with my mind subconciously making music in real-time with that kind of production quality on it is really something to behold for my virtual ears.

I as well never remember any tunes after I wake up unless I happen to be humming it.

There's even one sound that I dreamt of once. It's a particular breed of distorted guitar; the likes of which I've never heard with my real ears. It's fairly similar to what people think of when they hear "distorted guitar," but it has a few qualities that I fine-tuned in my mind when imagining what the perfect guitar would sound like. And there was this whole metal/rock music that my brain made up using it... very nice... Anyways, that was the only time I've heard the sound, and even now I think back on that dream when I think of what it sounds like.

One day, when I produce that sound for real and record it, I will share it with you.

Scientifically, it's shown that REM sleep stages last longer and longer the more you sleep. That is, if you sleep two hours, you'll have short REM periods, while a person who sleeps 12 hours will have long REM periods. Get more sleep, and I think you'll be surprised to find yourself dreaming more often.

I dreamed about a game that didn't exist once. A few years later, Super Mario 64 came out and matched every little detail of my dream. Except there was no sound in this dream.

I've often wished I could just plug my head into a computer or something and record my dreams to play back later. Especially when I have those really awesome flying/in-a-video-game/etc dreams.

Most of the dreams that I have, I forget when I wake up. Yesterday, I had a dream that had something to do with bombs and explosions . One of the dreams I remember having had to do with a new 8-bit Super Mario Bros. on some sort of blue system. All I did was play the game.

Hm, I dreamed up a video game that I don't think exists last night. People kept calling it Lego Star Wars but that's clearly not what it was. (That happens often in my dreams. People, including me, will refer to something by the wrong name consistently.) In the level I was on, you were riding on the back of some sort of monster, and racing against the clock along a winding path through a city. You had to do things like jump big gaps and dodge people riding the other way and duck to avoid clotheslining yourself on low-hanging banners (which I failed to do ) and so on. It was pretty cool. Quite detailed and felt very much like a real video game, complete with the "this TV is too crappy and these graphics are too bright I can't make out what that thing in front of me is" effect I often get with 3D games with bright graphics.

I guess I'll have to keep an eye on new games coming out and see if any of them have that level.

I dreamt once that I had a Wii, before it came out, and I hid it under my bed...

I swear I had the urge to look the next morning.

Last night I had a dream our house was being remodelled, and again for some reason me and a bunch of family members were assembled at a large table. They were installing a ceiling fan on the patio (?!?) and some weird bead-hanging string decoration on the inside, which my Dad yelled at them for doing (because, of course, it was hideous.) Additionally the house had somehow become, like, 4 stories tall INSIDE, with large gaps between floors and perilous stairs.

I had to chase after the cat when he ran down the stairs (all wooden) and bring him back. Then suddenly in another instance there were weird reploid-like robots, and there was a green one after me. However, a blue one mind-controlled the green robot and then I leapt down a pit, into which was the lair of the green robot. But there wasn't anything interesting there except a green fishtank.

While not quite as lucid as the other dream, I still used my powers to A. catch the cat which otherwise was moving away at an inhuman pace, and B. mind control the enemy robot.

And of course, I had full range of movement.

I had a dream a few years ago that I had a "F" in science. I did!

I also had a dream I was playing Super Smash Bros Brawl as Captian Falcon, even though I hate him. Pikachu ate me?

Then once I was in a garden of Chain Chomps and Thwomps. Ouch.

Weird.

I've had dreams about non-existent video games... strange thing is they often end up "masquerading" as actual games- a dream I had the other night featured a DS game that at the time I believed to be "Megaman ZX 2" (not Megaman ZX Advent, that was an entirely different game) but had absolutely no relation to the Megaman ZX series at all... It didn't seem to be that bad of a game either, though most of the details have escaped my memory over time (which is the annoying thing about dreams)...

Most of my dreams are in third person. They are also done in the style of movies. Some basically are movies, but they include me. But usually really weird.

Prologue: A bunch of cloaked cultists are in a green room, they discuss their determination to rid the town of bad people. Later, a brutal murderer comes to town, kills 3 people in the street (brutally) randomly, then is confronted by a detective who tells him to ease up, because he could go away like when he rampaged "last time". Then me leaving a big party, some character development. Next thing I know, I am running on a ruined freeway, that is swerving back and forth (so cars are sliding back and forth, and I have to dodge them), heading towards a ruined city with lightning and stuff. The swerving is being caused by magic involving the killer and cultists.

I didn't follow the plot very well in that one...

But yeah, usually mine are third person movie-ish ones.

Yeah, my dreams are almost always in the third person. The one about the racing game wasn't, though... They usually have me exploring imaginary worlds, which sometimes connect with or overlap places in real life or places that appeared in previous dreams.

Sometimes when something is "awesome" in a dream, but I can't remember it, I wonder if it really was awesome, or if I just subjectively believed it was awesome regardless of actual quality. Sort of... the dream says this is awesome, so yes, yes it is... ?
