Just kinda pissed because TimeWarner decided that all the cable boxes in our house "are not authorized for cable service", which includes the cable modem. ARGH. Not that this is the least of their evils (clipping DirecTV users' coax cables, anyone? ), but whatev'.

EDIT: Yep, it was a TW goof, though they managed to not have to send out the troops, and have us waiting a week. I WAS AMAZED.

This happened to me not too long ago, possibly even a week ago. My family was upgrading to a new service provider and had also bought a new cable modem. It seemed like a very trustworthy one however, when the installer had arrived, he told us that the cable modem we bought was not one they use. So, we had to return the one we had bought. And trying to return the one we bought took forever and a day to complete

Yup, Cable never has appealed to me. I stick with DSL... solid service (mostly) for the last... what, about 6-7 years? Yeah. Can't ask more than that... and 6 mbps download.

I hated when that happened . They always try to force you to use the modems that they deliver. Oh well, you gotta live with it, I guess.

Hm, that's really good for DSL- I don't think I got half that while I was on DSL...

Fiber-optic is the way to go if you can get it :D

Yeah, they should put that in some day... living near Los Angeles helps a lot, as they have to put in the big guns when it comes to communications to handle that traffic.

It's only $35 a month for my service, too--better than average, at least. I think.
