I didn't realize Macintosh Garden offers full on web hosting. I think I'll be moving my site over there, because it doesn't force you to use encryption, allowing you to access it on old browsers.

that's interesting, and seemingly random. i never saw anything about that on the site

there's quite a few places that offer free hosting in a similar vein to neocities. personally i don't like using neocities because i like having access to server-side scripts as well as having open directories if i want

100MB to yourself for anything you want to host. No filetype restrictions like Neocities has. No PHP or CGI, though, so it's limited on that front.

Yeah. Should probably find a webring one of these days, but most of the ones I see, my site wouldn't really fit in. It's kind of just... bland and generic in terms of the general subjects I cover, I'm not super feminine or out in the open about being LGBT, and I don't enjoy vaporwave, at all, so...

i mean, a host is a host. there's definitely a community aspect depending on where you go, but i don't think any of those things are a requirement

i still get it though. communities tend to be daunting when you don't fit in

I'm definitely going to try to host on my own hardware, just because I want that independence from a central server, even a community hosted one. Don't want it to go down and lose that site forever.
Still, being part of a ring or having my website mutually a part of someone's links page would be cool. I should probably set up my own...
