I don't really think too hard about it, but I do kinda hope that there is. I'd love to be able to see the reactions to it after I go... if I knew I could, I'd probably get it over with while I still have all my functions rather than wither away into old age.
Assuming we don't get nuked, that is. I guess I most tend to think about it on sleepless nights, and I tend to mostly just think about the, for lack of a better term, atheistic view of death. I don't really enjoy doing it, but I can't force my brain to think of literally anything else, hence trying to block those thoughts out with audio so I can at least get a little bit of rest for the next day. Hopefully they figure out how to get us to age slower, that'd be pretty neat. ____________________ ![]() |

Well, I was thinking more of like a TV screen or parting the clouds or whatever, not necessarily omniscience...

reincarnation is more common of a theme for my cultural background, and i feel like that is more `instilled' in me. but i don't really have any spiritual beliefs about an afterlife itself

| I became aware I could just die - and functionally disappear - from a very young age. Without having any real concept others had a concept of the afterlife. Which is both existentially terrifying and... honestly, it's mostly existential terror. |

Originally posted by Kaj I was raised as atheist, with no specific belief about the afterlife. While I remember having theorized about what happens after one dies in the past, no "theory" in particular's ever struck a chord with me, and I don't expect that to change any time soon, nor do I see a point in seeking out one that would. That's just me though, whatever makes you* happy! * generic you ____________________ |

don't really think much about the afterlife, but i have this idea of the "divine" as a manifestation of the universe itself, perhaps a higher reflection of it that people are able to tap into in different ways ____________________ produced by or under license from cat witches co, ltd |

| I guess I'm kinda religious, but I don't really know if an afterlife or any deities or anything really exist. It makes me feel a bit goofy sometimes doing things like giving offerings to deities while I'm not even sure if they're really there or not, but personally I found I kinda had this big religion/spirituality-shaped hole in my heart after dipping from Catholicism (only after I got over my YouTube Edgy Atheist phase tho). Seeing my deities in the world around me and whatnot helps me feel more connected to my surroundings, it's been pretty helpful for my mental health generally speaking. ____________________ ![]() |

A friend and I came up with our own religion once, I guess I'm part of it, though I kinda keep forgetting. It's basically just hippie stuff with slightly less nature worship.
Also, I keep praying not to any one specific entity but just in case anything out there can both read thoughts and has the power and willingness to help, specifically not to have to wake up in this genetically diseased, chromosomally wrong body of mine the next morning. So far it hasn't worked, but who knows. ____________________ ![]() |

I'd suggest learning Latin or Greek to get as close to the original texts as you can, if you're into that kind of thing. Even if the word of God is infallible and contained in the texts, the word of English people who knew Latin reading the Latin people who knew Greek reading the Greek people who knew Aramaic definitely isn't.
Also, glad to hear it's helping your mental state. ____________________ ![]() |

Given my past with sexual abuse, I can definitely get behind doing anything you can to deal with your shame. Shame just drove me further into the cycle, so getting it out as much as possible is pretty important.
Right about now is when I think most about this stuff, but I gotta sleep once I run out of topics to reply to. ____________________ ![]() |

| I am so scared of death and don't believe there is an afterlife. Every day I am slowly approaching death and one day it will creep up on me and when that happens. Nothing. I'm convinced to keep living so I can keep my mind, emotions, self and journey. Even if it comes down to my personal life being just a speck in the larger picture of this world, with the legacy I leave behind dying with me when everyone who I know and love joins me in non-existence. I personally try not to think about it, I think it is hard to be non-subjective and rational on the topic and am only talking about it here because I trust this place. |

I have a casual attitude towards living/death. In my mind there are two possibilities: either there's something on the other side of this life or there isn't. If there isn't, I'll be too dead to care. If there is, then there's a whole new adventure to be had. ____________________ |

I think a famous philosopher put it right: "Nobody wants to die. Nobody minds being dead, being dead is great! But getting dead... nobody wants to get dead."

| I have this slightly unorthadox veiw of life: we are allways dying, its just that a new consciousness gets born in its place that has all the memories of previous conciouness, beliving itself to be a continum of a single being (untill it dies and another replaces it). Consciousness is just a fancy term for electric sparks being sent round the brain muscle to generate chemicals that fool us into thinking we are alive (yes this was inspired by SOMA) and when we die, the brain fails to initiate the next round of thinking. There is nothing on the other side and we have fooled ourselves into thinking we are important enough to have one. []>-(=^ = ) why do I do this to myself |
