assuming something could "make" you trans. you can take the question as literally as you'd like. what was the media, event, whatever that made you decide to customize your identity?

for me it was (nsfw?) . the thought of being something other than the awkward unwashed boy i grew up as made me want to see a cuter, more feminine future for myself. today, i may not "pass" or anything, but i'm infinitely cooler than i was and i'm very satisfied with how far i've come

Getting too little T to my brain during the second half of pregnancy. As for what cracked my egg, I'd been interested in gender transformation stuff for years but tried to pass it off as just being interested in how people's identities work or something dumb like that, but when I found /r/asktransgender, I suddenly knew what it was I was feeling, because everything that was being said lined up with my experiences. Not liking my legal name but not knowing why, being generally dissatisfied with myself and wishing I was less masculine (but being really insecure about that fact), feeling distressed at going to cut my long hair...

Turns out I have a mild androgen insensitivity and I've been basically living with the equivalent of menopause of T for my adult life! My body doesn't use T properly!

And uh, dreams. Literally. My subconscious sent dreams at me to give me a clue since I was ten.
