It's for Windows 10 1909 specifically (with the UxTheme hack), hopefully it still works in later ones

Not much of it is shown in the screenshot, but it's largely based on my previous modified one for Windows 7, with some new things and restoring some other parts of 7 on 10

KDE 1 and 2 have also been updated to modern Linux, wonder if there are still any themes floating around on the Internet for it. I'm going to try KDE 2 out on my PowerBook G3 Lombard when I get to finally replacing that hard drive with a CF card.

my CF-Y7 broke so i took my CF-T8 out of storage and started using it actively again. anyway this is how my desktop looks. i ran Manjaro Linux for a bit, but i kind of like playing with some old Windows programs, use Remote Desktop a lot, and find some of the official drivers better suited, so i ended up switching back to Windows 7.

i'm using this macbook air from 2015, and i actually much prefer this over the retina display of the 2012 macbook pro from my post in the previous page in the thread. i like seeing the pixels, it feels more real to me, i can see things as they're meant to be seen. macos does hidpi better than any other operating system, but i still prefer having no scaling.

also this thing can run the latest macos, which is pretty cool... i like the default wallpaper. purple is a very wonderful color. the visual style of macos 11+... eh, i kinda like it...

Nice! Monterey does have a pretty nice default wallpaper. I've never used it myself personally, but I used the corresponding pearOS version and I usually just kept it. I'm actually kinda looking at an M1 Mac mini entirely so I can play a single game in a context other than mobile. I kinda like how Monterey looks too, even if it's the same kind of flat design I went on about not liking in the boring thread. I don't know what it is, maybe just it having a lot of colors.

Anyway, I just realized today that an old KDE default wallpaper I first saw on Slackware 14.2 is actually a fantastic sequel of sorts to the Aqua wallpapers for Leopard!

Running the DLSD off my backup Sorbet Leopard USB for now while I wait on my T6 screwdriver to arrive, that way I can get the top cover off and actually install my 256GB SSD.
For now, here's the desktop in all its 1440x960 glory, downsized to 640px in order to be nice to people with 1024x768 monitors. Image is full sized, it's just the preview that isn't.

Bounced back to Debian from Fedora as part of my regularly scheduled crisis of values. I'm on testing since even backports won't cover my hardware. On xfce for now, but knowing me it won't be long until I'm back on GNOME. Glad I get to use this wallpaper again though.

I tried using KDE 2 a while ago and I've gotta warn you that it's not as polished yet as the KDE 1 update is. I found it slowly broke down more and more as I used it to the point that I just kinda had to drop it all together, with there also being more issues from the get-go than KDE 1 had. Was kinda upset about it too tbh because I thought it looked and felt really nice.

I'm excited to try it out, as a MATE diehard that really needs to get out of that comfort zone and also have an era-appropriate DE for my PowerBook G3. Not that era appropriate means too much, given that I'm also considering using CDE.

It was something they started doing after KDE hit one of the big age milestones, I think it might've even been 20? They started with KDE 1 which is why it's more stable than the KDE 2 update. There's also this fork of KDE 3 called Trinity Desktop Environment that's actively being updated, though it was a tiny bit clunky. It was really stable though.

actually i like KDE more the further back you go. something about that quasi-brutalist simplicity feels more intuitive to me

although—perhaps contradictory to what i just said—i'd probably try running enlightenment if i were to use linux again
