It is disgusting yes but the fun part used to be the part where you get high in the end. Or drunk the case of alcohol. A lot of people will claim that smoking helps them not gain weight etc

Never smoked tobacco and I absolutely don't ever intend to, if the smell of the smoke and several other details are of any indication.

I usually attempt to stay away from those smoking -- and if I can, I will avoid breathing when I have to get past an area of smokers.

Of course this doesn't always help. ie: when I'm at home and the smoke comes from outside. Oh well.


As for smoking anything else... well, it's pretty much the same thing. Except that I don't remember coming across anyone smoking something other than tobacco.

Yep, back in my smoking days, smoking did not really have any effect to me other than keeping your hands steady and busy. It was just holding onto a pen with your one hand and occasionally moving it close to your mouth etc

i don't understand stuff like this and the reasoning behind it seems pretty shitty imo

i'm against outlawing anything that harms anything but the end user. if someone's committing crimes while they're drunk, punish those crimes. if you can't drink responsibly, then maybe ban selling alcohol to those people

i'm also generally against weaponizing force against people, especially if the reason is "i don't like this and think it's gross"

like, punishing people for doing something that's addictive that harms themselves? those people likely are already in a shit place in their lives, why the fuck would you punish them more

banning tobacco in public is pretty reasonable, though, or at least banning it in spaces that aren't explicitly advertised as smoking allowed (imo "smoking allowed" being the default with no smoking signs is weird -- shouldn't you have some reasonable expectation that you won't get pelted with cigarette smoke because you decided to go to denny's or whatever? luckily it's becoming more common to ban public smoking, so hooray)

(also banning alcohol and tobacco would probably be enforced along racial lines, much like the marijuana ban in most of the U.S.)

I cut down on my smoking, I'm down to three or four a day compared to seven or eight a day. I cut down thanks to the Nicotine Lozenges.

Dad was a heavy smoker, hacked out a lung every night. I decided not to go down that path. A friend of mine had one or two joints and an edible but got so sick from the latter they decided to just drop it.

Smoked cigarettes for about 10 years, quit before my daughter was born. Switched to snus, and then just tobacco free nicotine pouches.

Haven't smoked green since I was in my mid 20s.

Still drink, about every 6 months I'll get the itch and grab a bottle of whiskey. I'll end up finishing off a 750ml bottle over the course of a few evenings, or maybe a week or so.

Don't really want to give up nicotine. Helps with stress.

Nicotine doesn't cure it, but makes for a half-assed form of self medication.

The habit + feel good juices in the brain from the nicotine make for a sort of short term substitution for a proper fix.

If your talking about weed vaping... I dunno personally, but there may be something to weed helping people get out of a mind funk.

Everyone has their own thing that works, but for me meds + reworking my thoughts to be more aware of my mood and feelings has made the biggest improvements.

Never done anything, but have inhaled more than my fair share of secondhand smoke. Including this dude who "accidentally" blew his vape in my face while I was walking into a store, but I generally associate the smell of tobacco with being 9 years old outside talking with my dad about stuff.

I might get those prop herbal cigarettes for filming, though. And I'm interested in hemp-derived CBD for my anxiety, because the government will perform CBT on me if I try to both use actual weed and go into the line of work I want to, because they learned nothing in the 1920s, so maybe if they come in cigarette form I might give that a shot...
