Oh man, I just finished playing Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, and it was excellent!
I adore the Ace Attorney series, and have been slowly playing through them in chronological order over the past couple of years. I wasn't sure that any other game in the series could contend with my enjoyment of Trials and Tribulations... but maybe, MAYBE, this one did.
I really love Miles Edgeworth as a protagonist, and I especially love the interconnected nature of all the cases! Not a single one was disappointing, the pacing was excellent, and I rarely found myself stumped by ridiculous leaps in logic.
I guess I've gotta get the fan-translated sequel now |

I'm playing through Old School Runescape again, which is such a comfy game for listening to new albums or watching tv or just chatting with my partner. It's also nostalgic in all the right ways. I know in the higher levels it becomes a bit more of a drag because of my long term main account, but lower levels are just right. Also the grind itself is the game in a way, though I do miss the rampant social aspect that used to be a lot more prevalent in the late 2000s.
Also, I'm also going through Phoenix Wright! Only the first one but I'm really loving it so far. I just finished the 2nd chapter and I'm hooked on the great character designs and also just the campy, fun writing. |

Some stuff I've been playing and little blurbs about them. I've been emulating a lot since I have a computer than can do PS2 and PS3 emulation without huge slowdowns now.
Phoenix Wright - Whom has been telling me I would love this for a long time and she was right, but I never got around to it until now... I love Maya and Phoenix so much.
OSRS - I decided to give it a try because of Millie and Whom! The last time I played was somewhere between 2008 and 2009, so it's been quite a while. I'm liking it more than I remember as well, and I'd attribute some of that to having people that I care about to play with this time. :)
We Love Katamari - Love for itself, its players, and everyone else.
Skate 3 - I played like.... hours of the demo on this on Xbox 360 I think, but never owned the game itself. Flick jumping rules!
Spider-Man 2 - Super nostalgia trip.... I was playing PS4 Spider-Man a few months ago and I remember saying that the "swinging thru the city as Spider-Man" feel is good, but free swinging in Spider-Man 2 still outshined it. I'm glad that I didn't nostalgia goggle that part of this game, it still feels amazing. |

I'd love to hear about both of your experiences with playing Ace Attorney for the first time!!
Oh man, Old School Runescape is such a nostalgia trip for me. I really enjoy its super slow pace, and I am impressed that my younger self had such patience! |

I'm so glad to be right about getting you into Ace Attorney and RuneScape.

If it is not obvious by my layout, OMORI.
I already beat the game with the good ending but missed a lot of little things so replaying to basically do all of that... and doing the Hikikomori route, since that also completely changes the end of the game.
I'm hooked. What an emotional ride.
I'm also playing Dead by Daylight, but that's because playing the killer is very relaxing.
And Guilty Gear Strive, where I'm trying to actually learn a fighting game. Faust is a lot of fun to play.

Just finished Symphony of the Night, so I'm revisiting Half-Life, having done the expansions recently. I've always loved this game, but I don't think I gave its AI and tactical gameplay enough credit. I always played it as just a really punishing typical shooter with cover, but I'm starting to actually think tactically now. Playing on hard is still fucking me up, but I think less than it used to.

Since I last posted I ended up finishing:
We Love Katamari - <3 forever
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (base game stuff + some of the hard "post-game" stuff) - I've actually been going through these games backwards, which might seem Not Very Wise, but I figured since I grew up on Underground and American Wasteland, it might be an interesting experience to see features get stripped away rather than added. My new favorite Tony Hawk game, I think? It's really ridiculous how big this game is, it's absolutely chock full of goals that ramp up from very easy to extremely challenging... It has like, 194? compared to the previous game's 54, and the later games like Underground 2 still only end up having like... 100? if you strip out weird stuff like the janky special characters.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (100%) - This one might have my favorite UI of a Tony Hawk game, it's really weird playing without spine transfers though. I really did not like playing Suburbia or the Cruise Ship, but it's still pretty neat.
Stuff I'm playing now:
Half-Life: Opposing Force - Uhhh.... it's weird. I'm not really sure if I like it, I have a lot of issues with the design and it feels kind of like a power-trip fantasy version of HL1. The moment that has stuck with me the most is the mirror lasers puzzle at the very beginning, lol. The fact that this game basically has a Doom BFG is pretty funny, it's a fun weapon.
Civilization VI - Whom and I are running an async game :)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - I went from 3 to 1 rather than 2 because I've been told they're not really dissimilar in significant ways (aside from Big Drops I guess), and I guess I finally caved and wanted the original Tony Hawk experience. It's really easy to see why huge fans of this one don't really like what it becomes in 3 onwards. I'm sure I'll have more to say about the differences when I'm done with it.
Stuff I've either barely started or stuff I might play soon:
Castlevania
Half-Life: Blueshift
Half-Life 1 (replay)
E.Y.E. Diving Cybermancy
Ninja Gaiden
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Dark Souls Remastered
Moon - Remix RPG Adventure
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Demon's Souls |
