My 20th Acmlmiversary will be on March 2nd, though I knew Acmlm from a few other places before that (Zophar's Domain, Bastardly Productions, Acmlm's old ROM hacking board), so I have no idea when I actually "joined the family", as it were.

I literally would not be the person that I am today, living with the people that I am today, had Acmlm's Board never existed. That's... a pretty wild thing to think about.

Not going to lie, that place gave me a career. While I should have been studying for my maths exam when I was 17, I was fucking around with PHP and the Acmlmboard source. And filling it with bugs.

Hard to believe that was 20 years ago. I really didn't think I'd be coming back to post at these places when I was almost 40. Fuck. Still, glad it's still being kept alive

I feel like I'm late as hell into the community - only really joining it proper a few years ago through the #x IRC channel, and then consequently the Discord.

I actually had no idea how big the community was when I joined #x. And I honestly made a giant idiot out of myself during that early period.

Still, I suppose, for a community 20 years old. My existence here is a blip, and the mistakes I made even blippier.
It's astounding to see a forum last for so long. It also really makes me feel my own age, hahaha.

not a lot to say about this. I was only around these communities since 2008, but at the time I was a massive idiot, that and bad English did not help me make a good first impression. (not like the 'other side' was all clean either, the place seemed really harsh towards anybody who wasn't part of the preexisting friend circle, compared to today where it feels a lot more laid back).

though I looked a lot at the old Acmlm's Board archives and it seemed like it was, well, a fun place to be around.

these places also provided me some semblance of social life back when my IRL interactions consisted of: my parents pressuring me and calling me lazy, my sister shunning me in favor of her friends and using me as some last resort thing, the high school people I had no affinity with. atleast I could come back home and have some friendly people to talk to. I still talk to some of these people on a daily basis, so this means a lot to me. one of them even inspired me, back in 2017, to think again about my gender feelings and figure out I'm trans.

I was 3 when the original board opened.

I originally came here in late 2013 through tcrf.net, so quite a bit late to the party, and I originally intended to mostly/only post in the tcrf section of the forum.
This quickly ended up not being the case, though I was kind of immature at the time. Through here and other places like Kafuka I'd say I improved on that part.

The whole story of how I got here is a fun one itself:
- Getting interested in videos of debug glitches of Sonic 3 & Knuckles mostly by Sonic8000 (sometime in early 2009 IIRC -- around the same time I also discovered danooct1)
- Moving some time later from "Debug glitches" to "Actual glitches", and coming across GoldS' legendary Sonic 3 & Knuckles Glitches and Oversights videos. At the time, the LRZ1+Megaglitch video was the latest one he made. This is what caught my interest in that channel.
- In 2010, GoldS made a video about unused content in Kirby's Adventure, which pointed to "wiki.rustedlogic.net". This is how I discovered tcrf.
- Tcrf has a link to a "Message board" (here), though I wouldn't join until Sep 2013.


also, kind of curious/ironic that, considering how late I came here, I'd eventually end up doing this and this. heh
