I just joined, but I've been a pretty avid TCRF reader for a while (even made an edit a few years ago to the Half-Life prototype article), and I've occasionally stumbled across this place looking for info on Dinosaur Planet. I decided to join basically just because I like the forum software used here more than phpBB or similar, it reminds me of when I was a little kid absorbing people's Web 1.0 sites and fits very nicely on my laptop's 1024x768 display. Hopefully I'll end up sticking around for a few years, and hopefully the forum does too, because it'd be a shame to lose so many years of history.

Fun thing is that I remember using the JuL precursors on my 800x600 laptop way back in the early 2000s.

Websites aren't really designed for it any more, when you get down to those widths it just becomes a mobile phone display profile which isn't really good on PCs.

I have been around for at least a decade, if not more, I don't actually remember. How important this community has been to me has varied a lot over the years, but where the community is now is very important to me, the discord is super active with lots of cool and cute people.

And while the board don't see much activity, the community as a whole is active, and I would not have it any other way.

It's almost been 15 years for me. It's wild to think I've been here for over half my entire life. The only other place I've been in that long is my hometown.

There are few things in my life that are the same as when I joined back then, and even this place has changed, of course. As much as we like to reminisce about the good ol' days, I'm happy to see how we have matured and what kind of community we have fostered. It's a quiet place, but it feels like home.

Little over 17 years. December 2003 was my original join date, I'm pretty sure, though that's been lost by now...

I still peek in every once in a while. It's crazy to think how much has changed for so many of us, even if sometimes it's been so gradual we feel like we've been stagnating.

Almost everything online feels so ... inorganic, commercial anymore. It's nice to have a place to peek in every now and then that's free from that.
