i don't think i've touched photobucket since 2009 or so.
since then, i've usually had online hosting of some variety that i could just plop stuff onto (HELL YEAH SALTED FORK and also starlit lasagna and also elle zed.), then sometimes i've just had imgur to fall back to ____________________ |
This recent thread got me to log into my photobucket, for the same reason. Just to make sure my images aren't deleted and my old posts from ~2003 don't lose their images.
Interestingly, photobucket complained that I had too many images and would only show 250, but it seemed like they were all there? I definitely don't understand that company. Either way, I think I actually might throw them a few bucks, just because they're actually not that scummy. I mean, it feels bad because it used to be free, and now they're holding our images hostage. But on the other hand, they've been hosting my pics for almost 20 years and haven't deleted one of them. And sure, they put their stupid watermark on them, but they're still displaying them on those ancient forum posts. That's actually pretty cool.

already the thought of having to log into FTP just to upload an image is off-putting. one of these days i should really set up an image dump on my server, so i can just access some page in a web browser and upload images that way, but to my server instead of some corporate one...
