Well, it's another Sunday, and that for me means Housework.

Sunday is the only day of the week where I can really make sure to get all my housework stuff done. During the week I am often tired after work, and on Saturdays I am busy with Surf Life Saving. So, on Sundays I get everything done that I need to do.

This includes such fun tasks as washing my sheets, towels and clothes, vacuuming and mopping floors, wiping down the sinks, doing some gardening / weeding, etc. All the stuff that needs to be done to keep things under control for another week.

So far all I've done today is change my sheets and put the sheets and towels on to wash. I'll do some more later, but I also need to go grocery shopping soon.

When I don't do this it's not like the place really starts to fall apart or anything, but it's sort of... if I don't do something one week, I start to get lazy all the time and then when it comes to the next time I have to clean, it becomes a bigger job.

Do you guys clean / tidy your house / room on a regular basis?

Every weekend I vacuum the house but that's about it. Last weekend I rearranged everything in my room (which gave me a good chance to clean things that haven't been cleaned in a long time). It also gave me a chance to get rid of a lot of tings I didn't want anymore because my room hasn't been cleaned like that in at least 3 years

Somewhat old wintery layout!
----------------------------------------------------

We really dont have a cleaning schedule (Well, laundry every weekend is something we try to do... but never do in the end )

On the subject of cleaning...

Im actually wondering if Im the only person who doesnt particularly like someone else organizing their [room/desk/area/space/etc]. Seriously, if my mom tries to clean my room for me, I wind up doing it myself just so she doesnt do it

Also, once I start cleaning, I find it hard for me to stop...

My room is coated in dust, my things have the theme of 'Metal put these here and they're staying here', and in general what I dislike more than 'messiness' is things like dirt (like, outside), food stuff (I remove that post haste), garbage (In the more obvious side of the term, usually food-related or product-container related), and broken things (mechanical stuff, etc, it nags at me until I fix it.)

So the result? My room is functional when it comes to items and such, and anything I need to use is fixed if it isn't already, but it's covered in dust and random objects and wires.

One of the things i've resolved to become better at over the coming year is to keep things cleaner / tidier throughout the year. I'd rather keep it clean and do little, regular tasks than wait till it gets bad and have to spend whole days doing housework.

I've just been grocery shopping so now I have a few more things to clean. I bought some carpet cleaner to get rid of a stain I have on my lounge room floor, and I bought some gardening equipment so I can manage to kill some of the plants in the back yard that I've been unable to pull out with gloves alone.

I'm wondering if I should pay someone to clean the windows here for me. I looked at it and I think it's going into the "too hard" basket.

I'm only responsible for keeping my room clean. It's... not perfect.

Full evaluation:

2 toy cars on floor, leftover from cousins' visit a week ago.

Blanket not on bed (wrapped around me, as usual.)

One pillow on floor, other two here with me on the chair.

One shoe in middle of floor, matching shoe near bed.

Table next to bed a complete mess.

Keyboard leaning against back of chair, due to lack of room in closet.

One corner with a full shelf, tray tables, electric wheelchair, and other things that aren't mine.

Computer table a mess, with World of Warcraft manuals, PS2, TV, computer, games, papers, deodorant, asthma inhaler

All the trash is in my small trashcan, and food trash is removed immediately. My TV screen tends to get coated in a thin layer of dust because I don't clean it often enough, though from what I've seen, that's a pretty common issue. There's no cleaning schedule here, it gets done when it needs to be done and when we feel like it. Because this is only really a case of disorganization, I'm not in any big hurry to clean up.

I'm tied to a very strict cleaning schedule, which I adapt to fit my own cleaning into. Basement is vacuumed every weekend, bathroom and litter box are cleaned every second weekend. On the weekends that don't involve cleaning a bathroom I vacuum my room too. This system works fairly well, except twice a month for the catbox is not nearly enough with 3 cats, and I suspect I might get away with vacuuming my room once a month. The dogs don't come down here and tear stuff up, so it doesn't look like a tornado hit after one day like the rest of the place does. (Yes, I live in a zoo. 3 cats, 2 dogs, 3+ noisy people. )

Other than that, generally my room starts off nice and tidy and gradually gets messier, until it hits a certain point that it's bad enough for me to clean it up. Right now it's not too bad, some junk on the couch and desk and a TV tray sitting in the middle of the room. (Need to clear out under the couch so I can fit it in there, but I don't know where all that stuff will go. ) I've been trying to keep it fairly neat, and haven't done any hardware hacking lately so it hasn't been too bad. (I intend to soon, though, so we'll see how ugly it gets...)

The carpet cleaner stuff worked. It's fucking awesome.

I was worried about the little stain I had near my couch from when I dropped a pie on the floor. I didn't want it to upset my landlord. I am so glad it is gone!

Every damn day, I clean up in front of the TV after my siblings... They leave the video games and controllers all over.

I will choose to imagine then that your mess is beginning to become sentient. Are your socks already climbing the walls?

We did the laundry today and I found a few more of them huddled after my desk long after they were in the washer, so yes, I would say it's turning sentient.

I think they started a rebellion when we put them in the dryer.

Sounds like it's time to remind them that you guys are their god, and smite a few of them accordingly.

Heh, the other day I did laundry and when I went to put it away, I found a sock that wasn't mine. I actually gained a sock from the dryer.

(My rule for doing laundry is when the hamper is full, start to consider doing it some time soon. I should probably change that.)

I want to know how—no matter how clean you try to keep things—you always wind up with odd socks at some point. I've been very careful with my socks, but I still wind up with odd ones.

I hang on to them for a while hoping I'll find their partners, but when they don't turn up... I throw them out. I threw out about 5 odd socks today.

That's nothing. Several years ago, when I still lived with my parents, the mess in my room actually spawned an NES. I don't know where it came from, I don't remember buying it, and nobody I knew was missing theirs. It's still sitting atop my TV, along with the 4 others I can identify.

A friend of mine had a similar experience with a mystery SMB3 cart long before that, too. I guess the fumes coming from the river were potent enough to coax electronics into asexual reproduction...

My house is nice and clean, but for one closet I keep all of my random junk in. (Tip: Throwing away any trash right when it becomes trash is a nice way to keep the house clean and make cleaning up easy.)
In this closet is everything I have owned besides things I use regularly. It's really big. In this closet I find things I never even remember having, and I find at least one of these every time I look through it.
Interesting things I have found in my closet that I don't remember ever having: EarthBound (Brand new), seven TV remotes, bottle of wine (I don't drink), Super Mario Bros. 3 guide, destroyed copy of E.T. (Atari 2600), a monocle*, and three false moustaches.
Where all this stuff came from, I'll never know...
*Strangely, I can see through it well with my bad eye.

Sunday is for football...so we really don't clean up....so once season is over, we should start making a set schedule on when we should clean. Its not that bad, but it could be better.

On Sunday I'll ussually clean house and tidy most of my room. Sunday for me is also a time for running errans and house work. I mostly reserve Saturday to be the day to sit back and relax, but some weekends it's likely to change.

I can't say I'm particularly tidy. During the last 6 months, I've kind of gotten worse in that aspect. I have some time off now before school starts though, so I'll clean up this mess then. It's not that bad, by my standards, but... I certainly could need to clean more often.

I have a tendency to clean properly only twice a year. Usually at the end of a semester, but now before christmas I felt so burnt out, I couldn't do anything. So I'm gonna have to do it now. (I spent christmas at home with my parents.)

Other things, such as laundry, I do whenever needed. I should *really* get to change bed sheets more often ,though. Now I just do it when I think they smell to bad...
