| Hi, I'm new here, although I love and reference TCRF all the time when checking out different versions of retro games, so a BIG THANK YOU to everyone here the makes this possible! I just recently acquired an arcade Total Carnage (sequel to Robotron and Smash TV) cabinet and my ROMs are the following: Total Carnage (prototype, rev 1.0 01/25/92) I noticed in MAME there is also the following revision, but no where I've found online indicates the differences. Total Carnage (rev LA1 03/10/92) I would be happy to play mine and watch a video or play the other in MAME to try and spot differences, but I think that's a very difficult way of doing it. Can someone who has the technical means compare the two versions, or if not, point me in the direction of how I could go about it? I really like this game and it doesn't get the love Smash TV does, but I think it's only because the home versions sucked (unlike the excellent SNES Super Smash TV) and that hurt the appeal of the game. But I'm telling you guys, the arcade version is pretty good and I'd love to know the differences in the revisions and if it's worth upgrading my PCB, not to mention if there are hidden things in the game. There's also this cool story about how the ending is mis-programmed, which is neat, because they also didn't actually do the ending of Smash TV fairly initially until gamers complained, then the added and update. https://www.polygon.com/features/2013/1/9/3848592/total-carnage-confusing-ending |
