The museum stamps where you only got to see three of them a day, but the rewards were the same each time (so the game even told you it was pointless); the wedding stuff that just seems to be Easter all over (do something boring repeatedly so you can get eggs to craft themed items earn not-premium-currency to buy themed items ...

I know they're supposedly adding more in patches, but it just felt really shallow and heavily steeped in freemium game philosophy.

that's really sad. i really adored new leaf and was very, very excited for new horizons, but it doesn't seem to be a lasting experience...

it's a shame too - I was too young to really 'get' what Animal Crossing was about when New Leaf released
but friends who I'd made later on who were still playing it, some few years afterwards, which really gave me a generally good
impression of the game

and so I expected New Horizons to kinda carry that same trend, and as such considered maaaaybe getting it for myself.
but, I had it in mind to hold out a little bit and see if it would even last the first few months, and what others were saying
about it in that meantime
and this is the kind of result I had feared would happen. so... maybe if I'm gonna get into AC, it might be with a previous entry.

orrrrrr maybe I'll wait to see what all the patches and updates bring. I dunno

I barely play it, but part of that is intentional. I played New Leaf almost non-stop for six years, and my will to play it was definitely waning for many months before New Horizons. Rather than playing once every few days, I started playing once every week, and then once every 10 days just to catch villagers wanting to leave. Towards the end, Isabelle commented on how they hadn't seen me in a while every time I booted up the game.

In fact, I wasn't planning to by New Horizons at all. The only reason I own it is because a dear friend gave me it. I've had some fun making silly patterns, but I have no desire to start playing it regularly.

That reminds me, I should share my designs. Many of them are related to Super Mario Sunshine.

at least there isn't big consequences for not playing for months in new horizons. as far as i know you have to consent to villagers leaving, and weeds aren't as big of an issue. oh and flowers seemingly stay forever

i dropped the game *hard* for a couple months
i just burned myself out on it, found myself hating it
i think part of that was just, the intense grind for resources
nook miles, bells, that kind of stuff.
i went through so many nook mile tickets looking for, like,
the one villager i wanted in particular
(audie. it was audie. i love audie. )
and im glad i got her, but i still got super burnt out.
also i guess what bugs me is just,
how much less of everything there is,
despite being a game of the outward apperance of "more"
less furniture, less villager dialogue, less going on overall...
im also not huge on being drip-fed tiny scraps of content
the weird mobage mentality to updates definitely frustrates me.
also, the terra/aquaforming (no ventusforming? ) tools...
the controls are the worst. just absolute and utter tedium

all the negativity aside, however;
in the past few days or so,
i've dusted it off and picked it back up...
there's something to enjoy here,
especially if i lower my expectations.
now that it doesnt have to be my shelter in the storm,
the place where i escape the battering winds of the real world,
i can find a little joy in showing up,
looking at cute clothes or furniture,
maybe seeing a shooting star...
all of this, with my cute furry friends in the game...
it's not as feature packed as new leaf, sadly,
but, for now, i dont think it has to be, yknow?

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
