I have too much going on so I'll just copypaste.

For commentary I'd say that I'd like to learn more about PSX hacking (ASM?) so I could try to get some work started on a PoPoLoCrois translation patch, possibly a Wild ARMs 2 retranslation. Apparently PoPoLo is a horsepile codewise but I'm pretty sure a disassembly would help tons rather than just editing the binaries. Maybe I'm wrong and being a dumb who knows.

I'm playing most of the hacks without savestates, and I'm planning on restarting the ones I am using savestates on to not do so. VIP1, /v/orld (yes it's a 4ch hack, feel free to groan), JUMP, mice, Hyper and an Anikiti hack without savestates. What am I doing with myself.

At least /v/orld can wait until it gets accepted into SMWC. The person running the collab is very good at letting bugs go through lul

2nd Impact is a friend's hack so it's private for now.

Still playing Pokemon Green, but after getting up to having 128 of 151 Pokemon - and the remaining ones being anywhere between "hard" and "literally impossible because Mew!" to find - I decided on a whim to kinda switch things up: I started to also play Pokemon Ultra Sun on 3DS, after having barely played copies of both Ultra Sun and Moon for years now.

Backed up the old save (very little progress, but with some legendaries from a friend, so worth saving) then started a new game, and by now I'm 12 hours in, almost done with the second island, at 52 Pokemon owned.

Still Pokemon, still Green and Ultra Sun.

Green's at 134/151 Pokemon, in part due to replacing the battery in Red, so that I could restart the game there a couple times to get Charmander and Squirtle onto Green. Leveled them up, evolved them, so now I have the final stage of every starter there. I'll also continue playing Red some more, to get ex. Mankey for Green - it's Red, Yellow and Gold only in Gen 1 and 2, and of those, I only have Red in Japanese.

Ultra Sun is done insofar as that I'm the Champ after completing all the trials and the League. Like Green, I've been catching and training more Pokemon, tho I'll probably never actually complete the Pokedex on this one. Also been playing ex. the Mantine Surf minigame which, while maybe a bit simplistic, I actually find quite fun! It's no Tony Hawk's Pro Skater or whatever the surfing one was (Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer...?), but it kinda feels like a pared-down version of that sort of gameplay. Messing around in the Poke Pelago is neat too, as is the Kantonian Gym with, say, the shouting of important POKEMON terms, just like in the old KANTO-based games, and other throwbacks to them.

...oh right, I forgot about the post-game stuff in Ultra Sun! Still need to do most of that, actually!

Pac-Man Championship Edition (both DX+ and 2). These games are hella fun.

DX+ is one hell of a ride. As far as the modes go, Score Attack is an absolute blast, Ghost Combo is a neat way to showcase just how absurd the amount of ghosts on-screen can be (managed to get up to 91 ghosts eaten in a row), and Time Trial is just frustrating and stressful. I enjoyed almost every single board, but Manhattan can be a pain to deal with sometimes, the sleeping ghosts can actually block off an entire half of the board. Championship III actually left me trapped between the sleeping ghosts without a power pellet, I'm still mad about that. I'm trying to get at least an A on all boards, so far, so good. I do wish it was a bit more polished, custom key/button mapping and more online features would've been nice.

2 on the other hand...well, first things first who decided that having a forced tutorial was a good idea? Like, I understand why they did it*, but still. Also, this game really wants to make sure you earn your way through each course, almost everything is locked by default. Score Attack (Regular) still manages to be fun, Single Train mode is definitely much easier and more manageable, Expert is . I have yet to play Adventure mode. I'll try to see if I can get a B on every non-expert board. It's fun, and I still like it on its own way, but I can see why people complain about it, it's very much unlike DX+ (which is better than 2 in my opinion), and somehow it's lacking even MORE options. I wish the 2P mode from the Switch version was available on PC...

* the game has a lot of mechanics that differ it from DX+. Sleeping ghosts no longer follow Pac-Man, instead they'll follow one of the four ghosts in a 'train' of sorts. Ghosts will not kill you on contact, only if you bump into them too many times in a row (unless you're playing in Expert, in which case they go berserk as soon as you touch them). Even if you have a power pellet, you can only eat the leader of each ghost train (which will automatically kill off the entire train), every other ghost acts as a bumper. Plus there's a lot of other small changes here and there.

So my kids were listening to my Pandora the other day, and a song from Super Mario 64 came on, and I thought, "Dang, I haven't played that game in years. And I bet they'd love it, too."

The thing is, I never actually owned a copy of SM64. I borrowed it from friends here and there, but never had my own copy. So I went out and grabbed on on eBay. Now, my wife thought I was crazy, because after playing modern games (like Mario Odyssey?) how could such an old game hold up.

Well, my friends, this is probably not news to you, but it most certainly does. I'm having a blast. Yeah, the game shows its age here and there (Camera!!), but oh man is it fun. Leave it to Nintendo to just nail it out of the park on their first try. This game is soooo much fun, which I knew already, but dang. Even 20 years later it's still great. And I was right, my kids (9 and 4) are super into it!

And since I have my N64 out, I've also been playing a good bit of Mario Party 3. That's a great game but I hadn't forgotten about that since I play it at least once a year. But I finally dusted off my 15 year old Story Mode save file, and am planning to finally finish that.

I finally got to play OneShot! What a cute and clever little game. I played it all in one sitting, which I didn't realize was part of the concept for the original version of the game. Niko and Alula are precious.

If you like puzzles that require out-of-the-box thinking, I highly recommend it. It also has nice story and good cast of characters, even if there aren't very many of them.

So of course, playing Mario Party 3 inevitably leads to playing Mario Party 2 (But not 1... Only villains go for that). It's a really weird thing for me, because while 3 is certainly the more polished game, and even has some of the best minigames copied directly from its predecessor, Mario Party 2 is just... More fun.

And by that, I don't mean to imply that Mario Party 3 isn't fun, or even that 2 is really more enjoyable. I just mean that Mario Party 2 felt more playful. Even from the very beginning, starting a game, 2 starts with the characters running down a pipe accompanied by a wild orchestra, while 3 starts with the characters taking an elevator, complete with elevator music in the background. Mario Party 2 has everyone dress up, and even Bowser, who is not just a villain, but an active antagonist in every single game, gets in on the fun. Landing on a Bowser space isn't even a bad thing, since you visit a cute and pudgy Bowser who is just as likely run away because he offered to give you 100,000 stars, as he is to take coins from you. This technically exists in MP3, but it's much more rare.

All in all, it's just a really goofy game, that definitely doesn't take itself serious in any way at all, while Mario Party 3 is more like a formal exercise to find out who the Superstar really is.

Oh yeah, and also, in the beginning of MP2, Wario comes in, says he's the best, then just minds his business until Mario walks up and punches him in the back of the head for no reason. Who's the bad guy now, Mario?

picked up off my old save on Luigi's Mansion on just a random whim a few days ago. I had only just beat the dancing couple, so I definitely wasn't too far in

this was kinda sparked off of watching a playthrough of the third game (despite, like, I own it and could play it myself? but doing that is hard, somehow)

and wow, this game just has so much charm, doesn't it? so much that I wish bled into the sequels, but really hasn't sadly. they're fine games, just...
there's something missing with em. and I mean just in the aesthetics really, as what I've played of 2 and 3 are perfectly fine. but elsewhere, lm1 is just
oozing with its own style, and I love it.

Started a new game of Mega Man Battle Network on GBA a while back. Had the cartridge for ages now, but never really played this first game in the series much, not even emulated back in the day. I'm not sure how far I am into the game - finished either the traffic signal or waterworks episodes (for the lack of a better word) last, so maybe 1/3 or halfway through? - and am having fun, even if it's less refined than its sequels. I can say that I honestly do miss the Navi Customizer from BN3, tho.

Also recently bought Etrian Mystery Dungeon for the 3DS, whenever NISA Europe had some heavy discounts on the game - it was so cheap, shipping from the UK cost more than the game itself. Anyway, I didn't expect to like the game too much, due to me often having bounced off of Mystery Dungeon and rougelikes in general before, but at least so far, I'm unexpectedly into it! For obvious reasons, it's very Etrian-like in terms of character classes, skills and items, even the menu system, so that was probably a decent help in easing me into the concept. Although we'll see how much I'll still like the game once I inevitably start wiping to monsters, losing gear and money in the process...

It's because the game looked way better graphic-wise at E3 than release, and later it was revealed that they limited the graphics on purpose so that the PC version wouldn't look better than the console release, even though the PC can have better graphics than the consoles at the time.

Also I haven't played it, but I heard the story (and main character) was kind of lack-luster...
