That is some high quality level making GY. Everything looks perfectly in place, as a bona fide Nintendo made YI game. If I had to call out one thing..those train sequences don't seem all that inventive to me.

You aren't doing too much that normal Yoshi couldn't do..other than of course flying straight up on the track. I would perhaps modify those long stretches of track to be a bit more loopy and curvy. Perhaps put one of those spinning spike sticks and have the track go in a circle around it..

Still though, great work.

SNN, you have yet to post an uninteresting screenshot/video. Great freaking job. I really cant wait to play (and hear) more of your Keytastrophe.

I couldn't have said that better. Those puzzles are really clever, and the level design itself is superb!
Good job!

I really don't see any need for really complicated, unnecessary train track loops and what not for that particular level. Plus, the overall theme of that level is Chomp Sharks, so I don't see any real necessity for it to be completely focused around the train, and every little novelty I can come up with for it. The train portion of that level is just an extra part of the level. If you watched, you'd see there are already Cactus Jacks and rotating spike balls, which weren't present in the original game's train portions. Plus, you need to use a Chomp Rock when morphed as a train, which never happened in the original. In all honestly, I think that's quite enough for the particular point.

Besides, that's only my first level which uses the train. Other levels will have even more gameplay elements when using the train.

Not much- I've made a lot of progress with area graphics and maps, however, outside of that I don't have much, some class graphics... enemies I think are going to be my biggest problem with this, trying to judge the strength a character should have...

Heh, thank you. You're just in luck too - I made another song, which may possibly be one of my best yet.

"Key Mirage"

I spent a good 4+ hours composing it, so any feedback anyone has would be great, thank you

A good (but tedious) way to do this would be playing though the game to the point the enemy is supposed to appear, then basing it off your strength at that point. As long as it isn't impossibily difficult, small errors can always be shrugged off as easy spots or "level preperation"

Since nobody replies in my Hack thread, I show here two screens of the new tileset I ripped:

Please don't remind me on the incompatible tiles and the black buzzy beetles, I will fix them soon.

Hm, the tileset looks good, but the perspective is a bit worrying- it looks a little unclear what is actually solid, though it doesn't look too big of a problem..

Hiya peoplez.

Here's a project that might or might not become finished. LOOK! Super Mario Land 3rd boss playable in SMB2!

Standing, jumping... So far so good...

Holding objects and throwing them... A little tougher to get it set up right, but still not too shabby considering my skill at graphics, or lack of it...

These images had to be drawn by hand. I love the death graphics. XD

Best part is, when he's been hit and is "Small Mario", he looks ALMOST exactly the same. The tilemaps change when he's small, so it took some figuring out!

I also have a SMW hack going, but the SMW Central site has been hacked, so that's on hold until I get my Rom and Ram Maps back (I can do ASM in that game now).

Not hacked. Just to let you know.

That's hilarious. He looks like Luigi when he dies.

SMW Cenrtal is looking cool right now too with the chalkboard effect.

Wait, wait, I'm not done! Heeeeeeere's WARIO! Eeehehehehe!

I did NOT draw these. ALL credit for these graphics goes to Dark_Diety (a.k.a. Bwario); I got this from his spritesheet off TSR, and I didn't bother to ask his permission to use these, so the least I can do is credit him where it's due. I'll probably send him an email or whatever to let him know I'm using his graphics though.

Although I didn't draw Wario, I did have to tweak him slightly to get him to fit in a 16x32 frame. Small Wario fit absolutely perfectly though (yes, he shrinks when he's hit, like Mario does).

Edit: Phooey, I can't seem to find Bwario's email on any site... I really hope he doesn't mind me using these.

The pics are cool, I remember a SMB2 hack with playable Squaresoft characters in it, only peach wasn't changed. I like the Wario palette too. ^^'

Okay, here are the last two characters you can play as.

Petey Piranha! Probably the hardest one of the four to make... When he's hurt he becomes a Nipper Plant. XD

And the fourth one is a Shroob. Totally custom graphics here, using only a Super Mushroom as a base for the head.

As you can probably seen by now, my hack is big on the whole villain-playable aspect. I might call it "Super Villain Bros." Heh heh...

Edit: I've scrapped this hack. Every time I try to edit something in the editor, it ruins my level when I reload it after saving. I can probably still use the Wario graphics for something, though... We'll see...

Edit:

Thaaaat's better.

And if you want to see the other two levels I did, my YouTube account is SchwaWarrior.

Nice, is this SMB3 hack gonna be a sequel or you're gonna go for a whole new story?

Not a sequel. So far I don't even have a story planned out for this hack... I want to focus more on gameplay. 'Sides the story for Chaos Control was a little corny...

There will be working Save Stations in this hack. No having to savestate as the only method of saving your progress.

I posted this on You Tube a while back, I'm messing with level 1-2 right now. I might as well put an ad on RHDN for some sprite help (mostly with the Racoon suit and throwing fire and just a few knick knacks). That Toad sprite is from Wario's Woods. With this hack I plan to hack it with 3 levels and the airship throughout the game, sorta like SMB. Rockman gave me his code to have Boom boom as a mid boss, I should be having a video of that soon too...

I guess save stations are another one of those really hard things to do in SMILE, eh FirePhoenix? Nice work

Here's part 2 of Keytastophe's overworld - the big bottom right portion was added. It's pretty involved Ignore the blue 4 sign now, it's a placeholder for something I have planned.

Feedback?
