I'm curious here... Is there a program to intercept each one and prompt you to allow, disable once, or disable until you say otherwise? Something of that effect.

I know about such utilities for system startup changes. IE or Firefox is fine.

Mozilla Firefox can be set to ask you about Cookies.

Go to your Preferences, then Privacy. Set "Keep until:" to "Ask me every time".

If you want Exceptions that won't ask you each time, you can set them in Exceptions.

Wow. That was quick! Guess I'll have to try and break the habit of using IE so much.

Many on this board would suggest that you should (1) delete any IE shortcuts you have and (2) immediately forget about the existence of IE.

Yeah, unless you do a lot of website development, in which case it's a good idea to keep it around for compatibility testing purposes.

I don't know why I put this here.
I have my Firefox set to that, yeah. Helps me avoid lots of bad cookies, but it becomes overwhelming at times. You'd be amazed how many people's pictures here try to set cookies. *BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK*

I thought I was the only one crazy enough to have this turned on. It can be a hassle at times (block them only to realize you need them), but it's nice to know when someone's trying to track me in secret. Block!

Also, I noticed it gives a decent measure of how shitty a site is before it's even loaded. The more random cookies it tries to set (especially if from external URLs), the shittier it's likely to be.

CookieSafe Extension for firefox rocks.
It blocks cookies automatically unless you tell it not to, like how noscript does it.

No more asking you do you want to block this cookie, just enable it for the sites you need and woohoo~

(Though, I may have to hack it a bit when I switch to firefox 3, all well.)

Edit: Seems to have changed to CS Lite. ? here, I have not tried it yet however, I will have to update sooner or later so...

At work I don't really care what happens with cookies. They track everything else I do here anyway. At home I know I have exceptions set up.

As for Internet Explorer, I need to use that at work for work applications, otherwise I agree that it should be avoided.

You can do that in Opera, as well. (Disable cookies overall, then manually re-enable them for specific sites)
