Posting this here, rather than in General, because I'm interested more in perhaps something like a self-hosted option than a discussion of the relative merits of one social media platform over another…
…buuuuuuuuuut… if you guys were going to create an online gallery for artwork these days, where/how would you do it? Would I need to roll my own? Is there an open-source thing that's really good for that? Is there something that's open-source and social as well? Should I just give up and use a major social network? I've been using tumblr, because I can set up my domain and basically have a gallery, but with some of the benefits of finding other artists, getting stuff seen a bit… but, y'know… tumblr. So I'm starting to wonder what my other options might be. I heard about pixelfed perhaps? But a friend said to wait until there's a stable release… ____________________ Tarale.net |
People are using pixelfed and seem to really like it. I don't know how that would work for you because I've never used it, and I've also never used instragram, so I have no idea at all what it's like, other than being federated and open. Is Indexhibit still a thing? I heard a lot of good things about that probably ten years ago, but nothing really since.
Personally, I think i would make my own solution and use a fediverse bot to crosspost to fedi, but that's probably more workload than you're looking for right now?
