パネェポンもどき

I found this neat little program through a Japanese channel, and I figured it might interest some people here. It's a Panel de Pon clone with customization! It's still only a test version, but you can still do all the basics. The instructions for using it are all in Japanese, though. It has (will have?) online and local multiplayer!

With lots of help from Google Translate, I was able to make a little custom Oleana character (from Meteos). You can customize their portraits, garbage block designs, music, and even sound effects. In the future, it seems you will be able to choose a background for them as well. All of the assets are stored out in the open, so you can pretty much customize everything. My only gripe is that the graphics don't use powers of 2, so you can't perfectly upscale the SNES graphics to fit.

i've been playing around with this
it seems pretty accurate, the ceiling top-out is much more lenient and so is doubleswapping (you can very easily move panels accross gaps)

i have no idea how skills work

i can't tell if it has multiplayer either, it seems to have a server set up but it's empty

i've been trying to mess around with custom characters a bit but didn't do anything serious

This is really good! Most other Tetris Attack clones are pretty bad IMO, but this one seems to hold up. I've played it for a bit and it feels about right, although I noticed that it's a bit easier to pull some last-second swap tricks.

I also like that they tried to put in new game modes. There's this "Boss Attack" mode where you and your CPU teammates fight some RPG monsters that are trying to drain your HP. Frankly, it's a bit confusing but I really appreciate it. And the CPUs are a really good range from pretty easy to more difficult than Tetris Attack's Very Hard, which I really like. (I think the only other Tetris Attack clone I've found with a CPU was flat-out impossible to beat, but it's been a while since I've looked.) I'd really love it if it had mouse support like "Square Attack" on the Windows 10 store, but eh.

Yeah, I noticed the "skill" thing. I think those only apply to the boss battle mode, which I assume they will expand on. There is a spreadsheet in the "data" folder that describes the skills (I think), but I don't know if any of them work.

swapping is very lenient in this, but given how many skill chains and advanced tricks are annoyingly frame-perfect and really inconsitent accross versions, i'm not complaining
otherwise, it really is a very well done clone, people often understimate just how complicated panel de pon is, but this one does it well
it feels closer to snes than any other version too, which is good

they do work, you can activate them on some conditions during boss battles (and instantly with ! blocks?); the effects themselves are kinda clear for hte most part (recover health, extra damage, field effects etc)
i don't really know the conditions though, it seems to do with the kinds and order of pieces you clear?
similarly on he same file you can specify how does the character treat different blocks ("power" and "refresh" which seem to imply attack/healing) but changing that didn't seem to work
actually changing a lot of things didn't seem to work, i can't give them names, and am having trouble with music loop points

also have some more geneal sillyness, mostly trying to get an idea for how graphics work
