oh shit, must mean it’s obsolete and useless to anything now

UPGRADE TO A NEW PC OR DIES

(obviously sarcasm though it points at a real issue - why do people struggle with 8gb ram when I manage with 2? )

a hp...
uh, hold on. [holds laptop up in the air and looks at the empty battery slot for like, 5 minutes before setting it down]
... an hp envy dv4 that won't charge.
i have affectionately named it sparky, because of how it reacted to an older charger that wasn't exactly up to snuff.

(thus, the reason why the battery slot is empty instead of leaving it out of laziness -- there's one issue if it sparks all over the place, there's another if it shorts a battery )

another name i have given it is "fire hazard" when i'm feeling particularly on edge about it

it's running ubuntu 16.04 and until my newer laptop's motherboard LITERALLY HAD THE POWER BUTTON PART SNAP OFF OF IT (but that's another story) hadn't had the home directory touched since 2017.
feels like so long ago ;w;7

I decided to access jul from my work laptop now, which means it'll probably get a bit more love than trying to catch up from say, home.

I'm posting this from a computer made in 2002 (CPU is an Athlon XP Thoroughbred @2GHz). It only supports SSE1, so it can't run the latest web browsers nor can it be upgraded to Windows 10. Currently it's running W7 x86. It's my stepfather's computer which he just brought home a few days ago. He wanted to see if A. it would even work, to make a backup of the files and B. if he could still use it to browse the internet.

Well, it did work after cleaning a metric ton of dust inside the computer, but I think that only IE11 will even install here, if that. Currently using Internet Explorer 9. Jul works mostly fine, most layouts are completely broken (including mine). I wonder if I can use this for anything...maybe as a small FTP server? It'd probably be a really crappy one though. We'll see.

Now, something to note is that I'm using a virtual keyboard to type all this because all that he brought was the computer and some power cables and I have no spare anything, so it means switching stuff back and forth between both. My keyboard isn't plug-and-play (PS/2) so I can't unplug it.

Even highlighting text is slow. Yikes.

Essential PH-1. Very nice phone from a little known company that didn't last long. (I think they still exist but have been having organizational problems?) Not too expensive, great screen, no bullshit. Unlockable bootloader without any online registration crap.

I have had to return it twice under warranty for bad flash memory though. here's hoping third time's the charm.

"izyiPhone", an iPhone SE, and my only device I can post from at home, because my other devices are gone. I might try posting from "Dimensions", aka the PS4, at some point soon too. That is named after the Computer Magic song of the same name.

I'm a literal goddess at typing on devices you'd expect one to struggle typing more than a few words a minute, but I can type a good 15+ words a minute (at a guess) on the PS4 using a controller.

Currently from my phone from 2015 or so, which probably needs a new battery. It doesn't die suddenly, but it does barely last a schoolday. And my times at uni are relatively sparse.

Storage on here isn't doing too well either, even with as little as I have on here. I could get a new phone instead, but that is expensive and seems wasteful.

It's surprising how much better Jul works on here compared to sites supposedly designed for mobile. (Not to say there's been no effort on here...)

I'm posting from "UltraLappy", a refurbished HP Elitebook 840 G1. It's pretty lightweight, the GPU is pretty decent, it has an SSD, and it has a really nice battery life... except it has this habit of sometimes just turning off randomly when on battery. But besides that I really like it.

I've also got "BizLappy" in a box somewhere, a refurbished HP Elitebook 8740w. It's absolutely massive, weighs a ton, the power brick is more of a power slab, and it has a battery life of half of ten minutes maybe two hours max. I got UltraLappy because I was getting really tired of lugging that around everywhere for class. On the plus side, I have the docking station for it which comes with basically every port ever which is nice for the very rare occasion that I actually need a serial or an eSATA port. Also the build quality in general is a whole lot nicer than UltraLappy, and it's got a massive hi-res 17" screen and light up keys and a trackpoint.

Oh yeah, I got a new phone a few weeks back! Currently beeping from there.

I'm not using it to its full extent yet (browser resource nonsense notwithstanding) but it's nice so far.

Well, to mark what is probably my final post here, I'll be signing off from my iPhone SE.
