Apparently Millennials are ruining Car Ownership.
I fail to see the issue.

With that said though, my wife informed me a while ago that avocados have a bit of a dark background. I have cut down a bit since then.

I heard we're ruining middle children now
and also children
In completely unrelated news, children are expensive, and having the financial/life security to create a stable and loving environment for them is a whole THING and I still haven't returned to work yet and and and and AND
Also now we have the expectations of "intensive parenting", so if you DO manage to get some stability together and actually HAVE children you need to put more resources (both time and financially) than ever into them than any generation before ahahahahAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahahaahahah

Nah, by "intensive parenting" they mean shit like:
* not using the TV as a babysitter (so you, can chop some veggies for dinner, no, you're supposed to talk your kid through what they are seeing and hearing)
* going to music lessons because learning music is very good for the brain but very bad for mummy and daddy's budget and any sense of free time
* going to sport because exercise is very good in a lot of ways like teamwork and also brain development, but also very bad for mummy and daddy's budget and free time again
It's a different thing to helicopter parenting but it's ugh, it's a lot of work, and I guess this is where late capitalism gets us... where we are expected to raise the next generation as intensely as possible so they can compete in it... ____________________ Tarale.net |

Oh man, I gave a small - okay, big ramble/rant about it on the IRC, but I'll throw down a small digest here.
Even raising the child in all those three ideal circumstances, can still backfire. Really badly.
To explain why might be a bit beyond the scope of the topic, but forcibly trying to progress a kid's development along a certain part can just as easily end up with them revolting and reviling the time, money, budget, and effort spent on shoving them through stuff they have absolutely no love or care for whatsoever. |

Oh, I absolutely see ways it could backfire, and a lot of them from... not really respecting your child as a person. My point was more that this kind of thing is what's **expected** of parents these days.
It used to just be the children of wealthier parents who got all the music lessons and tutors and whatnot, and now it's expected that EVERYONE do it. And that's putting a lot of pressure on families, which is, of course, terrible for kids.
And yeah, it's all pretty much to try to raise better people for the whole capitalism mill. To give them an "edge" over other kids in academics, and then in their early careers... ____________________ Tarale.net |
