the "makes you feel like crap" part of a cold wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't an almost-always pressing need to do something (work, school, etc). if you could afford to just take a week off and do nothing as recovery i doubt it would be as crap as most people consider it now

This is just another reason to destroy capitalism so we can actually rest on days when we need to recover from being sick.

I'd wonder if a system that would lie somewhere in the left-middle of a socialist society and a capitalist society, would work... or has been tried at all?

you could argue that New Deal america was sort of that. or many welfare states with strong central governments (scandinavian model etc)

but in general it's not really tenable bc the goals of socialism and the goals of capitalism are completely at odds with each other. also most of those states involve the government somehow being able to make enough money to support its aims while coexisting with rich capitalists, which, lol. has never, ever worked, always the government either goes broke or capitalists scheme to completely dismantle any programs that could benefit the poor

i think the best thing we can hope for right now is maybe the yellowstone caldera popping and just ending this planet's collective misery

completely unrelated, but not sure where else to put this and i wanted to share

i noticed that most cars with blacked out front/rear badges are often driven by jerks and/or people who generally speed

the idea of someone driving a hybrid, setting cruise control to the speed limit in the right lane at all times is hilarious and stupid so here i am

so, i've been looking for a font that will make my posts more readable. something that works well with small, punchy short posts but also long walls of text. i've been having trouble reading my own posts lately especially when i post big long walls of text, and i wanted something that scans well, something where the glyphs are reasonably distinct, something that looks okay with a slightly extended line height

i've finally found one.

it's,

times new roman

it was times new roman all along     ;________;

i'm so sorry for using times new roman

2019 layout coming soon

new features:
- readability (no longer using a tiny arial font)
- probably will be blue and not pink like this one idk
- (((won't) won't) won't) won't feature stocking anarchy, the famous foul-mouthed goth sweets angel, prominently!
- maybe others!

(this is a placeholder, you can still see my old layout in my profile)

for a while I thought you were using some exotic font that isn't installed on my computer, and hadn't defined fallback fonts

Serif fonts are underappreciated. I remember an old post layout of mine (this one, if you don't have auto-updating layouts enabled) where I wanted to use a serif font called "Merriweather" before I actually tested it and decided it would be better to just use Arial. The problem is that custom fonts can be a bit heavy sometimes, specially when you include one for normal text, bold, italics, bold+italics, etc...and that's not even close to the size of custom asian-text fonts, those things can't occupy anything less than megabytes of space.

That and the layout in this post actually doesn't have as great of a contrast to it compared to my current Azure Lake one. Or maybe I just like blues and greens more than I like yellows and oranges.

You can also look for custom free fonts online. I think Google Fonts actually has a bunch that you can implement just by using an @import but maybe you'd prefer to download them and rehost the font files too, whatever works best.

The design dork in me loves the whole Google Fonts thing and the privacy dork in me hates them.

Neat fonts! Free and easy to embed! Makes Google's long gropey fingers go everywhere!

Tomorrow’s is Chinese New Year. Anybody gonna celebrate?

I used to like going out for Chinese New Year. I guess in a year or so we'll be able to do that kind of thing again more.

I miss Chinese food in general. All the restaurants around here suck.

We moved to a new house on the 7th. It took a few days to get everything organized (including internet). Also, another semester of college just started again.

I never had a G+ account to begin with .

I made sure to never upgrade to G+ to see how far they'd go in pushing it to me. I kind of wanted to see what they'd take away after they restricted comments to G+ only.

Thankfully it never went beyond that, and at some point they restored the commenting functionality to non G+ accounts (which, IIRC, happened months after the day they stated that change would occur).
