Today I learned that Opera wasn't using sRGB and that it displayed the color used on the background of my layout as #0037EE instead of #00E. Everything looks slightly different now that I changed it, I didn't know I had the wrong colors all this time!

I had to go to chrome://flags/ and manually set Force color profile to "sRGB" so it actually looked proper to everything else on my computer.

Fun.

Anyone who uses a Chromium-based browser, you should check if the color it uses for your images are the same as the colors your Operating System uses. Firefox and IE both used the correct colors for me.

Huh, weird. I noticed some of my screenshots seemed to have slightly off colors, but I could never really tell for sure — being on Linux makes it hard since I don't have the full set of tools I use to check that sort of thing (namely Irfanview and Paint.net )

I'll have to check, and if that is the case, then I'm going to feel a bit silly.

Congrats! Twitter is hopefully a little easier to share art on (and a lot easier to follow people with, I think) so hopefully this gets you some good reach I know I can hopefully follow you closer.

Heh, I only had a Tumblr account to look at 18+ stuff myself so I just went ahead and deleted it because of their TOS change (barely used the thing anyway TBH)

I do have a backup Twitter account in case my old one gets deleted or something though (I did get two strikes on it... one for a stupid reason though (apparently for mentioning suicide in a prevention context) and don't want to risk a third)... also a private Twitter and one for my radio station

Last I messed with Tumblr was over a writing project that barely took off and that was well over a decade or so ago. Haven't really had a reason to use it since outside of what gets linked from there to other forms of social media (mostly Twitter).

Tumblr had the problem that it was nice to follow people who made stuff, but if you did it was also really easy to get completely drowned in reblogs and the like. At least with Twitter/Tweetdeck I can turn those off.

I liked Tumblr as a place to post art. But I know on my main I posted all kinds of crap, so I'm really glad I had a specific tumblr for my art only.

I have an account which was only really used to overcome the dashboard-only filter on someone else's Tumblr, which was nuked recently.

Kind of ironic considering I was thinking months ago to actually use it for posting art as Twitter's image compression is... not good. Even then, before this mess started, Tumblr started denying access to full resolution images, something I didn't exactly like.

Twitter's compression can be sort of worked around if you use a weird trick to insert a semi-transparent pixel and save as a 32-bit PNG, but it's such a pain in the ass...

Between that and everything else, I wonder if we'll see a comeback of self-hosted gallery software?

I've barely looked, but I'm not really aware of much self-hosted gallery stuff. And I can't code… fuck knows I've tried over the years… so I can't make my own.

I don't really like the idea of using Twitter as a gallery either. It doesn't seem very suited to the purpose, but I know that's where a lot of artists are heading. It's too ephemeral, there's no neat page like the /archive pages on Tumblr for everything.

Reminded I need to get image hosting stuff-ish set up for myself. I know I asked a few times already, but I feel like I'd need to find some time and actually try to get through with it. Otherwise I suspect I'd keep asking every once in a while...

One thing I have "going" for me in this is I draw and write stuff pretty much exclusively for other people on a personal level, so I don't need to be as visible as professional artists.
