Hee - I do, yes! I actually picked the name for not very good and non-bat-related reasons back when I made my Livejournal account in 2005, but it was pretty easy to fall in love with the animals themselves. 💚 🦇

I'm this person if you haven't already figured it out, talked to me personally, or PM'd me and vice versa.

Although it appears that the profile in question's been renovated recently.

I was gonna make a "EVERYONE IS HERE!" thing because of all those returning faces, but I am a bit lazy.

It's nice to see all you new and old peeps get here.

Big ol welcome to the new ones, and a welcome back to the old ones.

Now, I'll go back to my habit of furiously lurking.

Well, welcome back!

I can relate, breaks and time away gives you time to evolve, and that's a good thing!

It's good places like this continue to exist! the internet may very well be dying in different kinds of ways.

Even though I wasn't a part of this place the first time, it's kind of reassuring to see older faces filtering back in. Welcome!

I updated yours to remove the title around the same time I updated a different title.

h-hi?!

I'm lucidiot and I have no idea how to properly introduce myself! I... like cookies? And thinkpads. There are a few people I know from Mastodon here, I guess they would be able to describe me more accurately!

I got to know xkeeper on tilde.town then on Mastodon a little more than a year ago. After coming here once or twice just to look around I decided to just register and try to get involved in here. Tilde.town has gotten just too big and scary for me and I do not have that feeling of belonging in there anymore, maybe I will find something like it here?

Thinkpads are nice, yup. I mean, not that I can say too much about them, since I only have a 380ED from 1998 or thereabouts, but I guess I do like them in general?

Also, welcome everyone I haven't welcomed because I'm lazy and don't post enough.

i love the style of thinkpads,
id love a modern pc with effectively the same design as a 90s thinkpad
i know they made the thinkpad 25 last year,
but it doesnt seem quite the same
(and seems to be a piece of crap, on top of it)

and Windows ME works brilliantly in a T42 apparently

I can just appreciate the days when "extremely thin" wasn't the prevailing design aesthetic, so that stuff had depth, weight, and didn't feel like it was made out of paper.

The best thing about the Thinkpad design was the included Mouse Nub™. Lightyears ahead of touchpads, still is.

Trackpoints are wonderful -- there's also the keyboard, the fact that servicing the thing yourself isn't painful, the magnesium cage/CFRP base, the fact that they can be had pretty cheaply now...

I wish they'd make something entirely CFRP again, though. And indeed, everything outside of the p series seems to have fallen off pretty hard...

This got extremely off-topic. Oh well...
