I like how the game has two entirely different interfaces for the normal world and the Dark World, as it is a great way to show that the rules are different. I'm wondering if this style will be revisited in the next chapter or if another new style will be introduced instead.

The stats are silly, even if they don't mean much. The stats are almost pointless, considering how little they change over the course of the game. The most powerful equipment you find only gives you +2 to any particular stat, which means battles almost always turn out the same way. Considering this is just one chapter, it wouldn't be unreasonable for that to be the case, but it also makes you wonder why the stats/equipment are even there other than to maintain the typical RPG structure and add some character interactions.

The combat, while also more interesting than Undertale's combat, also seemed simplified in some ways. Nearly every enemy, aside from bosses, has only 1 ACT commands available, (some 2) and one of those commands is guaranteed to make the enemy ready to be spared. This essentially removes all of the puzzle aspect of placating monsters, since you don't need to learn the monster's personality to make the right choice. Of course, this was only chapter 1, so maybe later chapters will have more complicated battles. After all, many of the battles in the first sections of Undertale were just as simple. The mechanic of having a berserker on your team is neat, though I am glad that it doesn't stick around for the whole game, as it simply requires the same extra ACT at the beginning of each battle.

The Dark World doesn't have that many characters, but the interactions with Lancer certainly make up for it. It's neat seeing the Undertale characters living normal lives on the surface, like Alphys being a teacher, even if it feels a bit like the countless "AU" fanfics.

I have a strong suspicion that this is some sort of alternate timeline/universe. Undyne has no eyepatch and hasn't met Alphys, Sans is new to town, Bratty and Catty are rivals, the amalgamates were never created, Asriel is alive, and so on. The presence of the Delta Rune and the Angel-centered religion indicates that the monsters had been underground for some amount of time, but these other changes suggest that their time underground was much shorter or had different conditions. I am really interested to see where this goes next, even if (again) it feels a bit like a fanfic.
