Why is it that all those errors (except one) have that weird font, and the few that aren't using the XP theme (minus the button style, and one of them has Windows ME/2000's My Computer icon) look like Windows 95

The last one reminds me of when I used to mess around in Visual Basic and make it show error messages with randomly generated text (random letters with punctuation thrown in)

For some reason, these all look like they should belong in windows.

Those pics remind me of what I used to do when I was bored . Except that they involved doing wierd things like making the "start" button say "starta", and making random things with random sayings or bars. You couldn't even tell that it was fake if I didn't do things that are impossible or too wierd to have.

That's exactly what I thought... "Uh, guys, Tahoma isn't hard to find"

It isn't even any of the default fonts Windows uses.

Old.

I think I've only had this emailed to me at work about 5 times.

Another round?
There actually is a program that generates these error messages. You can make your own!

Nevertheless, it's pretty old.

You can even just use VBScript to make your own error messages, since it comes with Windows XP. No external program needed!

Yep, just open Notepad, write something like this and save as .vbs:

msgbox "windoze has crashd lol",16,"omg error"
(text, type, title)

Then run the .vbs and enjoy

But then not everyone knows about wscript.exe (which runs .vbs and .js) or even VBScript, especially if those fake errors are that old ... or I'd say lazy, except it probably took longer to make the fake errors than it would to code them

Hell no. There's some website that generates them. I recognize the style.

http://atom.smasher.org/error - first result in Google for "windows error generator"

Whoever made this page didn't use a very good font, then ... although it does look somewhat like a crappy version of MS Sans Serif

THIS IS NOT AN IMAGE, THE CAKE IS A LIE

Eh this one seemed sort of funny, I suppose.

I hope the bump proves no problem.

Usually real ones are far more amusing. Since I have no specific error-page handy just now - things like "xxx will be installed in a few seconds", like another dialogue box pops up, saying "This may take several minutes".

Reminds me about the old (fake) one

"You have moved the mouse. Windows must be restarted for the changes to take effect."

There are also those pages with "stupid" customers calling the tech-support ...
