Mostly I tend to like individual songs, but here are (mostly recently found) albums:

Metal Church - Metal Church
Metal Church - The Dark
Savatage - Hall of the mountain king
Buggles - The Age Of Plastic
I've also found Sky Babies - Sky Babies last week by chance but I haven't found any evidence of its existence anywhere else online. Possibly the band still has its myspace page but that doesn't have any reference to the EP.

Scorpions - Humanity: Hour I and Crazy World.

There are others, probably, but mostly I like individual songs more than an entire album. (The two above just have a lot of good songs.)

I was looking for a way to gush about my favorite albums and managed to find this thread. It seems like y'all might have a slightly different music taste to my own - but that's half the fun of sharing, I guess.

Milk Music - Mystic 100's

Milk Music - Mystic 100s

A psychedelic, scuzzy journey that'll take you through twists, turns, and headtrips. A punk masterpiece that is criminally underrated. The former bassist for the band works at my favorite pizza place.

Slint - Spiderland

Slint - Spiderland

Alethic. Post rock odyssey, in my opinion perhaps the best album ever made. The lead singer passed out immediately after recording and checked into a mental hospital - wrought with every emotion a person in that kind of mental space might have.

Earth - Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version

Earth - Earth 2

Three songs, over an hour long. Yep, one of those. Drone metal that's a little abrasive for most to listen to - you've been warned. If you're willing to sit through all of it, it's definitely the crown jewel of this type of music.

The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers

The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers

I will forever be enthralled by Johnathan Richman. Very overwhelming "sadboy" vibes that may be a turnoff, but this album is an important stepping stone between The Velvet Underground and countless punk acts.

Björk - Homogenic

Bjork - Homogenic

The queen of experimental pop - many follow in her footsteps, but in my opinion none have come close to topping this album in particular.

Those are handful of my favorites. There are many more that I would put in a similar league as these but these are my top five for now. I don't recognize any of sofi's albums! I'm pretty into Q's choices - Macross 82-99 is pretty spectacular. I've seen a few people mention Daft Punk, and I think their popularity is truly deserved. Super fond of them as well.

both great choices!!! i actually used to be into vespertine more than homogenic but over time i've just had to admit that homogenic's prolly her best (i haven't heard any of the other albums you named -- although i've had at least a passing interest in the modern lovers' s/t for years now i just never got around to it, and earth's been on my list of artists to listen to for a while too)

i deleted both of my posts here because i was embarrassed about them like a dummy, so woops. someday i'll post here again maybe with a more up-to-date list

Vespertine is sooooo good! I felt like I needed to include at least one Bjork album because I love most of her music but on a different day I would pick Vespertine instead. I'm interested in hearing your picks if you ever get around to it, I often look back on my opinions on taste-based things and end up changing my mind so I pretty heavily relate to the act of editing out your previous picks.

αWe inherited a copy of The Art of Noise's The Seduction of Claude Debussy from one of our predecessors. I think Lightspar actually got into the sound of it even more than we did, but it's got a really nice hybrid sound to it and the album covers this whole sort of… impressionistic arc, almost, about Debussy, and John Hurt does an excellent narrator voice for the style. It does contain some explicit lyrics, for those who are worried about that.

I somehow missed Earth 2 in the scrollback. That album is absolutely wonderful stuff... Earth was pretty eye-opening for me as a teenager -- I think Bees Made Honey was the first remotely drone type album I heard and Earth 2 followed pretty quickly from there. Like Gold and Faceted feels like time is stopping...

I don't listen or pay attention to a lot of albums since it's easier to just pull up an individual song on Youtube, but my favourite out of the few I actually know about might be Green Day's American Idiot. I'm kind of surprised no one else mentioned this actually, I kind of assumed that one would be a cliche choice. I'm a big fan of Makr's Beacon as well, but that one seems to be completely unknown to the world. (the only likes and views their songs even have are all from me)

If video game OST releases count as "albums" then I also really love the soundtracks of Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenogears, Chrono Cross and Grandia II as well.
