I have recurring places in my dreams. The stuff that happens might be different, but the place keeps coming back. They're often versions of real-world places, but with fantasy elements, and some Escheresque qualities.

I've been having much more vivid dreams than I used to the past few days, to the point where I can usually write a paragraph or two about what I dreamed about. It's a nice change. and brings me back to... ten years ago.

I keep dreaming about places I used to live. Whenever I dream about the place I'm currently living or anywhere similar, it feels mundane, and I often dream about places I've never been before and those are always the most fun -- it's neat, in general, when my brain invents entirely new physically consistent vivid cities or naturey places for me to explore -- but dreaming about places I used to live is... kinda just... depressing and uncanny.

For some dumb reason I've been dreaming this continuing storyline where I'm still living as a guy and miserable and wasting time on IRC with toxic people and still living in the house I lived in when I was a teenager. I'm also a college student in this dream timeline, for some reason???

It'd be pretty awful, but it took a super interesting twist a while ago where some people realized that the dream timeline I was living in was actually a parallel universe to real life, and I developed knowledge of events from the real life universe. This led to me *getting pulled into the president's limo*, having to explain how Donald Trump became president (he never even ran in this dream universe) to Obama's aides so we could figure out when the two universes diverged. Donald Trump was in the limo too and he kept trying to change the station to really shitty metal music. He was still petulant and childish and self-aggrandizing.

Also the dream me in that timeline just realized she was trans and is transitioning and just came out to her parents, so yay. Happy (happier) ending, I guess.

(I also had a dream, recently, that me and my roommates fled to Canada and I ended up getting signed up for a boxing tournament on accident, trying to beat the very best Canadian boxers and, shockingly, losing every time. This dream has nothing to do with anything, I just thought it was funny.)

Yuu (likely not the ONLY one..)
< no further information >
I used to dream a lot when I was younger and it kept going up until I got to high school, then things pretty much stopped and I haven't had a dream or nightmare since that time.

Most of what I recall isn't anything special, but it was nice to think about; things like the old town I was born and used to live in (Lawrence, KS), meeting up with old friends, and occasionally these odd dreams about what I did the next day (that I would end up doing exactly the same).

I still have high school / college dreams, or college dreams set in my high school, usually involving the first day of classes for a class I have no idea where it is located. Worst example: dreaming that I ended up in the wrong classroom and then I would be late for work because my university was two hours from home. Best example: dreaming that the only way to get to a class was by completing a Legends of the Hidden Temple-esque obstacle course.

As for the non-stressful dream themes... I wish I could take pictures of my dreams. You could probably fill a video game with the kind of surreal locations I've dreamed of. An incoherent game, sure, but it would be a lot more interesting than the locales in LSD Dream Emulator.

I feel the same too! It's a shame that most of the time, I can't actually remember what I dreamed about. Except sometimes when I try to remember the scenery or place I was in during my dreams, then things sort-of start coming back (in a very fragmented way, but they do).

I feel like this might contribute to my sense of de-ja-vu sometimes. If I dream about the same thing twice (has happened before), I will usually remember it in the second dream like "hey, I've been here before, I know what's about to happen next" and I'll end up doing something that changes the way the dream went from there forwards.

There's a lot of cool scenery I remember from my dreams that I did plan to put in a video game at one point...

Of course, at this point, I'll never make it, but... it's still something I would have liked to find some way to share with people once upon a time...

Hang in there. Hopefully you feel better soon.

Surreal dreamscapes

Yeah, putting these sorts of things into some explorable medium has been something I've wanted to do, too, but like most dreams I don't think it'll ever be real...

I've had some false awakening dreams, but the more usual (and recurring) one is the one where I wake up after a nightmare... in dream, run to the light switch, and then actually wake up. weird.

another case of nested dream/false awakening, that is different and that I had posted at Kafuka

posting on Jul. there's a (new?) theme that is mainly yellow and red. I'm on newreply.php, reading the thread history. there's a vertical slider of sorts of the left of the posts, with two cursors, apparently you can move them to select posts to quote, or something, it's weird.

but I anger the users for some reason.

I work in some library that has comic books. or something like that.

eventually the place is flooded by a large stream of water. we all struggle to save the comic books from this.

then, nested dream occurence. I dream of waking up and starting to post about that dream here. there's also a bit that's a recall of the Jul scene, but more like a rollback so I can avoid fucking up and angering people?. it no longer has the yellow/red theme and is back to its usual night theme.

also, another sort of dream that I've had a few times, but all ages ago (like the false-awakening-after-nightmare kind)

where my dream vision is abnormally dark, or static-y, or weird in some way that feels oppressing

and no matter what I do (like, turning on more lights, etc), it doesn't change

anyone had that sort of dream too?

i've never had a false awakening after a nightmare, thankfully. most of the times i've had a nightmare i wake up immediatelly afterwards.

though i guess the lightning tends to be a bit weird on some of my dreams. sometimes they completely lack shadows, and light seems to come from undefined spots in the scenery.

on a few other dreams, there's been places that had such a weird dark atmosphere to them that no matter how i tried to light up the place it still remained dark, but that usually only happens in more unsettling areas which i don't want to be in or get close to, like, the type of place where you feel something might lurk in the shadows and you really don't want to be there

Today I went to an orchestra with my father. They played songs from Georg Philipp Telemann, Christoph Graupner and Marc-Antoine Charpentier, all of them from the Baroque period. It was really cool to see it live, and some of the songs were so good it sent me goosebumps. The place itself also looked very well preserved, almost as if we still were in the 17th century for a moment.

It's not my favorite music genre, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

Interesting layout issue in this thread, but it should be fixed now...

In other news, oof. The weekends are never long enough, and there's never enough time to get everything done...

I really need to learn how to use CSS properly. Thanks for fixing (i.e. removing), it should give me either a push in the right direction or common sense not to have a layout until I can actually use CSS properly (and have a relatively plain post compared to other users as a result, but that just signifes myself as a person more than anything)...

I want to clean my bedroom but I have zero motivation to do it, it just ends up in a mess a day later...
