i should probably figure out what my actual post count should be soon, because the gimmick of having the same post number for a few hundred is a bit stale, much like the last time this happened

the fastest way might be to just add up all the times a post number was reused and then add that to my current amount, which would (mostly) account for the various gaps from deleted posts and whatnot. maybe i'll do that soon.

lol, I'm counting about four full pages of posts (at 100ppp setting). It's been like this for a few months (!).

...I guess I'd have never noticed it unless it was pointed out. Heh.

At some point I'd like to find a way to make that system less crap -- the hacks to use custom sidebar layouts are pretty gross.

four full pages of posts

There's more than that. I'll actually do the thing I suggested and check real fast.

there's a large number of repeat posts in my history (about 1500 or so, i didn't save the count). getting an accurate 'reset' to it will be a little challenging, since there's a few gaps too.

hmm.

I'm so used to the simplified system where only the deleted user account has a special sidebar that I keep forgetting about how much of a confusion it is in the original code.

looking at it at first is almost like a game of Where's Waldo, except Waldo is the regular sidebar layout

Really, the whole idea of customized sidebars could be classified as something like a mistake, since it breaks the one consistent part of threads. (And it's really hard to update.)

I dunno what the solution will be, if there ever is one. Jul is pretty feature-complete in terms of development.
