I hope this thread wasn't created yet, but are there any games for 2018 that you're interested in?

I don't think there are any that haven't already come out. I was pretty hyped about Celeste (and that was great), and I want to try Into the Breach (by FTL: FTL developers), but I got no monies nor time for that currently.

W A R G R O O V E

It was also my most anticipated game of 2017 before it was delayed into this year. It still has no release date. But I need it. I need it so very bad.

I want to be excited about wargroove, but what with how chucklefish handled starbound I don't have a lot of faith in it living up to the expectations it sets. I'll wait for reviews and full breakdowns of the game before I buy into any hype for it.

Even if I am setting myself up for disappointment, I am actually excited for KH3.

From what I've seen of trailers (and having played 0.2) the gameplay might actually be pretty strong this time around, and having followed the story since KH1 means I have a delicious trainwreck of a plot to look forward to as well.

It's pretty easy for me to be excited about Wargroove -- I know exactly what I want from it, and that aligns nicely with what it is at its core. Even if they'd literally just released that early beta they showed a full match being played on, I'd be into it. It's precisely what I want.

Hypnospace Outlaw. From the creator of Dropsy. That's all that needs to be said. Oh, and Ikenfell too, but mostly for the looks/story rather than the gameplay.

(Also Hiveswap Act 2, but I'm pretty sure that's a given with me, hehe.)

I have been wanting new advance wars games since dark conflict (days of ruin), I really like the series. And wargroove seem like it's obviously there to capitalize on that market.

Kirby Star Allies! Sure, it looks pretty similar to the 3DS Kirby games, but it's a fun formula. Plus, you can play as the helpers!

Oh, and I guess Wonder Wickets, too. I guess it's an homage to Kirby's Dream Course from some of the people who made Grumps' Dream Course.

Also Wargroove has Sigrid, goth vampire girl CO.

And just imagine, I was excited about the game before they showed her!

I'm a bit leery about Advance Wars clones because they've traditionally all had weak gameplay and some other GUI/Polish issue that makes them frustrating. No one's released one in the intervening decade that can even come close to dethroning Advance Wars....

Wargroove looks absolutely lovely, although the unit readability is horrendous at the moment. I've been watching it since it was announced in hopes it'll be better than the other AW clones over the last 10 years (not a high bar, but still a somewhat insurmountable one at the moment). The devs have been really cagey about showing off gameplay too, so I'm a little worried. :/

The success of the other (relatively few) Advance Wars clones over the years is... irrelevant, I will say, to Wargroove's ultimate critical reception; that will be determined by things such as the skills, resources, budget, etc. of its team. Unbroken patterns appear fixed, until such time that they aren't and don't.

That's kinda what I mean though.

The back of my mind is going "pleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegood" despite my fear that I'm going to be let down yet again. Chucklefish's history with Starbound hasn't done them any favours here.

It's...complicated. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm trying incredibly hard to temper my expectations (because Advance Wars is literally my favourite series of all time and sucked tens of thousands of hours of my life), especially against so many who have tried to follow the path and failed for reasons.

I'm way too emotionally invested and I'm just a natural anxietyball.

Damn, favorite series. I completely respect that, because it is not far from that for me. Some of my fondest game-related memories growing up involve taking my GBA SP with my copy of AW2 inside absolutely everywhere and passing it around for multiplayer every time the opportunity presented itself. Same for DS and, to a lesser extent, DoR.

It has been more than a little sad to watch it become the forgotten child in the wake of Fire Emblem's recent success.

My feelings on Wargroove are pretty uncomplicated, in that I expect a game with a similar style of gameplay, which I will enjoy, and the quality of such will determine weather I spend a lot of time with it or a lot of time with it. Really, that hour plus long stream in which they showed an entire match being played? They could release that, and I would effortlessly spend dozens of hours on it.

except wargroove is better because it has sigrid and advance wars doesn't so who cares about that old series more like DUMB WARS

Does Stardew Valley multiplayer count?

I don't really keep on top of gaming much any more to know if there's anything good coming out soon, otherwise..

Wargroove will be a bad game because Heavensong's final CO won't look as good as the Vampire Girl and so I won't play it despite how much I love Advance Wars.

Because in all seriousness they got me hooked with the Eastern aesthetic of the Heavensong faction and now I know they're going to break my heart by not having the final unrevealed CO be as well designed

Thanks to the Nintendo Direct, I guess I also have the Switch Smash Bros. to look forward to as well!

(Unless it gets delayed, of course.)

The Occupation - kind of like the the Stanley Parable, i.e. its a story-led game where you walk around a mysterious building, but this actually has people in it, and you have to solve a mystery in real time, with your realistic-ish interactions with them determining which of multiple endings you get. So kind of a like a real-time visual novel adventure game.

Luigi's Mansion (3DS) - I'm just intrigued how this will compare to the original.
