oh, god -- way, way too many. there's always something. basically everything on this list (my backloggery secret is that i delete games from it if i have absolutely no interest in ever playing them

lately i've been really wanting to try Doom and may do that soon. i've been watching my roommate play different Doom games lately (1-2 on DOS, 64, Doom 2016) and they all look super super interesting/cool!!

also i really wanna get back into the Souls games. i kinda abandoned Demon's Souls because i got distracted after we moved and i just never picked it back up, but i really liked what i played of it and i think i'll love Dark Souls when i get around to that.

In no particular order:

Puyo Puyo Tetris: I was probably never going to get a Switch, since I feel it was going to collect dust like my Wii U is doing right now. As of the announcement that the game is coming to Steam, this is now a certainty. Now I can't wait to get thoroughly wrecked by the Tetris half. Shameful, though, that it got saddled with Denuvo, and ~~SEGA~~ AAA game companies in general still haven't learned that DRM never works ever.

Puyo Puyo Chronicle: Before PPT surprisingly made its way to the west, I briefly considered purchasing a Japanese 3DS just for this game. But now there might be a chance for an English release of this one as well...maybe.

Dark Souls: A friend gifted this to me years ago and I feel bad for not playing it yet since this laptop cannot run it. Now that I've had a newer laptop for years, I don't really have an excuse anymore.

Half-life 2: I played like five minutes of this (spent throwing boxes around) and stopped, thinking I'd play it for real later. Flash-forward ten years later, and nothing has changed. :/

Final Fantasy: Bravely Default: This game was recommended to me after I was talking on Twitter about the FF5 Four Job Fiesta and I was encouraging people to try FF5. From what I understand, it's roughly the same job system as 5?

La-Mulana 2: SOMEDAY IT WILL BE OUT, I HAVE FAITH

Bloodborne/Dark Souls 3: The worlds of these games intrigue me, but sadly Bloodborne's a PS4 exclusive, and while you can get the Dark Souls games to run at 60+ FPS, it requires a decently high-end system since they're pretty bad console ports. The mouse controls are also kinda jank, which is just the icing on the simulation sickness cake.

Jubeat: This might be cheating, because I have played this, but nowhere neat as much as I'd like to. It's an arcade rhythm game based on a 4x4 grid of buttons with a screen behind them. (Video)

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward: I love the previous game in the series, Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, but for the longest time this was the only game I wanted that was 3DS exclusive, so it wasn't worth getting one.

Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon: It's Pokémon. I still don't have a 3DS.

Monster Hunter Generations: I've always wanted to play a Monster Hunter game, and this is the one I was recommended for getting into them. I think I finally have enough of a wishlist to get a 3DS (and the New 2DS XL was released relatively recently, so maybe I'll aim for one of those).

Yakuza 0: Well, any Yakuza game, really. I never paid them much mind before, since they were marketed in the west as similar to GTA, and I'm barely interested in that, so what seemed like a Japanese clone of it really didn't appeal to me. I watched like half of a playthrough of Yakuza 0 last year though, and holy fuck, it's amazing! I don't have a PS4 though, and I really struggle getting into single player games; I much prefer playing multiplayer (preferably co-op) with my friends.

Undertale: ...speaking of difficulty getting into single player games, I got like half way through Undertale in one sitting, loved it, but have never gotten around to finishing it. The same problem is why this list grows faster than I can keep up.

There are two Bravely Default games and they are both a bit of a mixed grab bag, tbh. I actually really like both of them, but they both have same rather big flaws that I wish they didn't do....

Despite the fact that the jobs are better constructed in the sequel I would recommend the first one over it, it has way better narrative and characters. Anyway, the biggest difference the job system has from 5 is that it drip feeds you the jobs. This might not sound bad on paper, but it causes certain... issues. By roughly around the time you have the wind crystal jobs in FF5, you have like, 4 (plus freelancer) in BD. And this sort of gets worse the longer the game goes on. When FF5 goes into the second arc of the game you basically have all the jobs, that's not the case in BD.

You never really get these moments of: "okay, wow, I have a lot of new stuff so I'll just re-class my entire party!" :o

Final Fantasy III had a job system that felt too flawed and the DS version made some jobs a lot worse (Ninjas and Sages, two of the endgame jobs, were nerfed badly). The two Bravely games handle the job system a lot better. Still need to play more of Second to construct a more concise and thorough opinion.

Wii (I have one): Super Mario Galaxy 2, Fortune Street, Mario Party 9.

Ooh, yeah, I really want to play Breath of the Wild too. Thomas Was Alone's pretty cool, but I've only managed to play it in short bursts; I might finish it by like 2025.

Oh, didn't know that. It's just a shame no other games were released for the Vita. ;(
I almost bought one in Japan with Project Diva, because it was super cheap, but region locking meant it would've been a hassle. :/

I'm kind of ashamed of the number of games I own but haven't actually played very much or at all despite wanting to. On several occasions, though, I have actually sat down, played through, and enjoyed games I originally got years ago, so I'm hoping that it's not in vain.

Just on Steam, there's Darksiders II, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Supreme Commander, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade, and X-COM: UFO Defense that I haven't played even for a minute. There's also Dustforce and Hyper Light Drifter, which I've played for less than 30 minutes each. I could make a very large list if I just start listing games I haven't finished in general, though.

As for non-Steam games, there's AM2R, Catacomb Kids, Dungeon Keeper, Fallout 2, Gone Home, La-Mulana, Momodora 2, Nuclear Throne, Neverwinter Nights, Ruby & Majesty: Treasure Team, StarCraft II, and Uurnog. I also have a copy of Metroid Prime 2 that I got over a decade ago and spent probably less than an hour playing it that I would like to revisit someday.

Anyway, there are a bunch of other PC games I don't actually own that I'd be interested in playing. The main ones that come to mind, though, are the new Doom, Nier: Automata, Factorio, Iconoclasts, CrossCode, Sonic Mania, Cuphead, Songbringer, Hollow Knight, Caves of Qud, and Magic Wand.

I don't own any console more modern than a Wii, so I've really missed out on console gaming for the last several years. Despite that, I can't think of many console games I haven't played that I would to try. The main ones that come to mind, though, are Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, Super Mario Maker, Journey, and Bloodborne.

In practice, I have less and less time to actually play video games and less and less motivation to dedicate my time to learning how to play (often lengthy) new video games. I'm much more likely to just play something I'm already familiar with or very short indie games these days. I'll probably never get around to playing a lot of these.
