Eh, I didn't find it that hard. I lost about 20 lives getting the hang of doing it properly but it wasn't *hard*
Also, 20-up?
Yeah. We all know who Peach really likes more! |

I just played this over at my friends house (Lucky bastard) And I must say..WOW. Fantastic game all around. Everything from the controls, graphics, sound..is just so damn smooth..as usual for Mario platformers.
Why is it that Mario platform games are always so much better than everything else? I mean, even though Sunshine was a bit of a let down relative to SM64. Relative to any other platformer on the Gamecube, it was still king.
I was going to wait until Smash Brawl came out to get myself a Wii. But god damn, I don't think I will be able to walk into a Best Buy/Gamestop without walking out with a Wii and Mario Galaxy.
Test of willpower this shall be... I'm so screwed.

In regards to the 20-up, it's just that. I won't spoil anything, but under certain conditions Peach will include 20 1-up Mushrooms in a letter. Xenesis know's what I'm talking about.
The "Green Star Galaxies" are officially refered to as "Trial Galaxies"
There are two Ray Surfing stages. The first one, Loopdeeloop Galaxy, I died a bunch until I got the hang of bouncing on the waves. The second one, Loopdeeswoop Galaxy, I did on my first try. When I did it again with... erm.... the second time... I got a time of 1'04" ish.
And if you guys think Cosmic Mario is a difficult race, then boy are you in for a surprise.
Lastly, Wiis are getting easier to find. The first half of the year was tough, and this holiday season cleared out a lot of stock, but now I'd say the majority of the people who will get one have one now, so they'll start showing up more frequently.
EDIT:
Try not to bog down my server too much. I put this in a Flash applet since I've had bad luck with posting links to MP3s in public webspace. If you need to download the file, check the source code of this message.
And pardon the sound effects, as there was no way to get rid of them.

It's not the race that hurts, it's the route chosen. I try and run fast across slanted 3D platforms, odds are I jump clear off into a black hole.
Of course, that's only the first one.
So, which comet type are you most into?

...yeah. I was quite surprised when I got up to THAT for the first time. Strangely enough not much else seems to be that much harder.
As far as comets go...I uh, dunno really. I don't really find any of them more particularly interesting than the other types. |

I agree, SMS wasn't bad, just.. different. I especially liked Yoshi's inclusion to the game.
And the Ray Surfing Green galaxy was easy. I mean there's so many 1ups all over the place, I finished with more lives than I started

Many people say the game is bad simply because all the worlds have the same theme (water, sunshine...) although, I personally loved it, the game was very good, and the hunt for the blue coins was the win. And I agree, the final level was disappointing, I wanted it to be huge and puzzle rich. And battling Bowser in a more direct way would have been better.
I dare say I had slightly more fun with it than with Galaxy. And that was because Super Mario Galaxy's missions are all direct, you barely need to investigate anything, in some cases, there are those star portal things that take you directly to where to find the star. I like more the having to explore the level for the star.

 | | Yeah, Galaxy added a lot more linearity, while Sunshine retained some of the openness of Mario 64.

How did it add linearity? It's basically the same format as SM64, except castle floors are replaced with domes and keys are replaced with Grand Stars. The only linearness would be the fact all the levels are accessible in one spot, instead of walking around to find the painting/portal/whatever.

Yeah, you could grab multiple stars by picking one option... so far, the only star I've even seen available to grab is the one chosen.
It's not too linear in the sense that you can take several paths (no need to beat levels in a certain order), but your chances of skipping or sequence breaking are limited to almost nothing...

Oh... now that makes sense...
But then again, if you were allowed to roam free in space, you could get lost pretty easily. D:

Limited path or open, it doesn't matter to me. All 3 games have been awesome.

Heheh, I don't need that much free roaming.
Galaxy is still awesome, whether or not the levels are kinda straightforward at times.
