I do that sometimes, with a fan nearby, to help keep myself from overheating. Because I need the blanket to sleep, but it can get pretty warm... ____________________ (Lv 240 with 215198750 EXP) |

I'm a big ol' pillowhugger. It's not entirely out of loneliness -- sleeping with people is nice, but even if someone's in bed with me I still do the pillow huggy thing. I need to have my arm over something or I can't sleep, for whatever reason. I could probably re-condition myself to not need it, but... I never really had any incentive to change. Not like pillows are usually in short supply, anyway...
Probably more notably, I also need some kind of white noise to sleep. I always have. That's been the hardest one to unlearn. On occasion I've resorted to wearing headphones with rainymood or whatever, but that wears out headphones quick and I way prefer to use a fan of some kind. If the fan ever goes off in the middle of the night I just jolt awake. I prefer to have a blanket of some kind covering me, but it doesn't really matter what kind or thickness or even that it's covering me completely. I can have like a super thin sheet just barely over my hip and that's good enough for me. Which is good, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep here over the summer (we have no AC ).
Also I sleep with clothes on, but that's less of a sleep conditioning thing and more for... uhm, reasons of personal comfort, I guess. I could probably theoretically sleep naked just fine, but... blerghhhh. ____________________ _ |

There's nothing really wrong with needing white noise to sleep. That's pretty common, and why there's an entire line of "white noise generator" sleep aids ![]() ____________________ (Lv 240 with 215242486 EXP) |

| Yeah, I'm using a white noise app for the baby at the moment. It's a bit similar to some of the sounds he would have heard in the womb, and also it masks the noises we make elsewhere in the house so we can… live ____________________ Tarale.net |

| Not only am I a pillow-hugger, but I sleep with a pillow of Best Girl(Its' design is within SFW territory)
I sleep during the day so I usually have a full cup of cold water before I sleep to cool my body down. I also have a fan pointed at me usually on high, unless is freezing outside(well, Florida's definition of freezing, that is). It's 50-50 on if phone calls wake me up. It's usually either a couple of those robo-calls or work trying to get me in earlier. Other than that, noise doesn't bother me while I sleep(There's a lot going on outside during day time, anyways...) ____________________

*Sanqui flops, wings involved. level 74 exp 3579499 exppct 55.8% numposts 1631 The fan thing I really don't understand, haha. Not only I almost never have a fan on, maybe like the two months in summer may be candidates for that... but also sleeping in total silence sounds like the ideal to me (and I finally did order some earplugs).
Alternatively... sleeping somewhere far out in nature, where it's only natural noises like the trees gently rustling and the river streak flowing... that's the best thing. ____________________ In our brief lives, • we've managed to meet. • Treasure this gift, • this precious time that we have. |

I used to sleep with one of those white noise generators on, but the power cord got mixed in with millions of other cords while cleaning and I've been too lazy to look for it. I've found that I really don't need it that much though. I tend to just sleep on my back, however I might fold over my pillow and lay on my side occasionally, or even more rarely use my body pillow. I only ever resort to these things if I can't fall asleep (which happens more than it should )____________________ ![]() |

Sleeping with a fan can be annoying because it might make you too cold or, more often, dehydrate you and dry you out. But that's mostly if you have one pointed at or near your face.
Which is where it feels best, of course.
When I slept alone, which hasn't been for years, I'd sometimes leave some quiet music going. Most recently was some of the nice ambient tracks from Donkey Kong Country 2, for example, often just loud enough to barely hear. ____________________ (Lv 240 with 216266930 EXP) |

i have a normal fan diagonally pointed towards my bed (generally on low), with my head being the furthest away from the fan. this is because my room really doesn't have a lot of air circulating at night, and it's summer so i sort of need it - that said if it happens to get too cold, i have no problems turning it off or moving it further away from me
it's not required for me to sleep, but i guess it helps Originally posted by Halian the sheets will usually get incredibly messy for me as well, sometimes it's just because trying to change which direction I'm facing messes with the entire sheet as well - it's usually not too much of a problem for me to organize it again once I wake up though biggest problem I guess is if it somehow gets too messy for me to sleep at all, in which case I just throw it in the corner and then try to go to sleep ____________________ "The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear." --Ram Dass |

| Some low level of constant background noise and a good amount of but not total darkness usually work best for me, personally. Specifically constant background noise; something more intermittent (like say, people working outside, knocking central heating, what have you) tends to keep me up all night and I've had my ceiling fan on outside the summer months on multiple occasions to drown that out.
Other than that... I can't say I was ever one to hug pillows in spite of sleeping on my side, but I do tend to cross my arms whenever I'm lying down, even if I'm on my back. Imagining the bed is slowly swaying back and forth like one of those swinging ships you see at amusement parks tends to help too, for some bizarre reason. |

| Whoo, boy. I am a man dominated by this.
I usually have some kind of rain-like sound effect going on in the background. If it's too quiet, it gets really off-putting to me. I am also a bit light sensitive sometimes, but if I'm tired enough, usually not much of a problem. I usually have to sleep on my right side as well. Yes, specifically that side. There's also the fact that I also have to sleep in a designated "sleeping area". Basically, I can sleep mostly anywhere, which helps when I go to cons and can't get a bed, but I kind of have to take over an area that states "this is where I sleep", and then I can sleep there. If not, I can't sleep. I can't sleep in vehicles at all either. Usually that has to do with travel (because that's the only way I'd be able to sleep in a vehicle) and I'm super paranoid someone's going to rummage through my stuff when I'm not looking. ____________________ | 7321 | 12679 | 2911 | 13 | ![]() |

| I gotta have no lights on and use a comforter as a head-rest to get to sleep. Then hopefully I can get to sleep in a few minutes, sometimes it takes a half-hour or so. Having the AC/heater on, depending on the season, helps considerably for me getting to sleep. |

| i have a lot of trouble falling asleep at night but some of my quirks include:
-need to be laying on my stomach with my head to the side (i usually flip sides til i get it 'right') -lots of pillows required, three minimum (two for my head, one for between my legs) -one arm wraps around pillow number two, one goes above my head and back around my face -one leg has to be up over the third pillow (however, occasionally my girlfriend will do as a substitute) -blanket should be tucked right up under my nose but open on the bottom for the soles of my feet -NO SHEETS BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE BLANKET, VERY IMPORTANT -i dont need one but a nightlight usually helps me fall asleep easier -sometimes i just need to sleep in a ball -sometimes i fall asleep gripping things, like ill wake up with a handful of blanket -...sometimes i also wake up facing the other side of the bed, with my head where my feet were i currently have 8 pillows on my bed and three blankets. i also have trouble sleeping if ive got pants on... so there you go. |

| I've tried side, back, front… it varies, and I kinda have to arrange things to balance the overall stress on my arm joints especially to avoid winding up sleeping on them in ways that lead to RSI issues later.
I keep drooling sometimes and it's annoying. Sometimes I have a background video on to one side—the Internet-era equivalent of falling asleep to the television—but I really want to get into the habit of distinctly not doing that, since I think it's not actually good for me. Added: oh, and I have my plush kitsune Aiko. ^..^ (Whom I haven't fed recently enough, eeeek. I need to get on that…) |
