My favorite punctuation mark is... ※.

You never really get to see it, but it's a nice symbol for "addendum" type stuff.

(※ I remember it used to be at the bottom of patch notes or other change logs, too.)

I like {curly brackets}, and taking the time to learn how to write them well has greatly improved my quality of life.

Asterisms. Even less common than the addendum mark nowadays, though I feel is quite a good way to separate paragraphs or sections.

Perhaps some day it will see common use again. For now I have a vim macro that makes one for me, with *s rather than the actual unicode character because vim's text rendering is weird.

My favorite punctuation mark is the backtick: `.

There's a reason, but it's really just boring personal history.

Japanese-style bracket quotes are really nice, and I like them a lot more than what we have here in the US. ("smart quotes" are just terrible.)

Those are OK, but they give me nightmares about AOL's original e-mail quoting format.

those are ok, i just conceptually like the idea of replacing one character w/ another that simply means "ditto"/repeated

honestly, my whole thing w/ the iteration mark is, i just wish there was one commonly in use in Chinese b/c writing things like 平平常常 is a pain when i could be writing 平々常々 and saving all the strokes. when i saw they had them in Japanese, i was shocked.

i tend to like punctuation marks cuz i think they're cute rather than for any real practical value. in spite of the fact that they're common keyboard punctuation, i like @ and & and *. i think people underappreciate them because of how common they are, but they're all really neat looking. i like how swirly the @ sign is, and i like its connection to computer-y culture. i like how ampersands look when they're actually being used, like, i actually think "Blank & Blank" is just, like, economical.

i also think lozenges and other diamond-type shapes are really neat. i've occasionally used them as a separator for things that are on the same row, like images or links or something. i also really like the fleuron because i think it looks nice and it has a neat name even if i never use it. i think i'm fond of dingbats in general. maybe that's frivolous of me, but fuck it, i like cool shapes

for practical use i really like a lot of stuff that was already mentioned in this thread -- the iteration mark is really neat conceptually. semicolons are underrated because there's really nothing which approximates that exact type of pause.

i used to like em dashes a lot and i probably overused them at one point in my life. these days, though, i just use hyphens and double hyphens for everything now because i got lazy and stopped caring really, and also frankly unspaced em dashes just don't scan that well in big chunks of text.

leave it to me to make an overlong rambling post about punctuation marks

Agreeing with the salmiakki.

I'm not very well versed in punctuation, but I'm fond of the diaeresis (which doesn't see use in English I think, but is present in Dutch) and as far as ornamental characters are concerned I'm quite fond of the pointing hands occasionally used in old adverts, sometimes to an obnoxious degree.

I'm fond of a nice decorative ampersand. I tried to make a good one for the font I made.
