I must agree here, that second star on the screen distracts me horribly.

90+ Stars. I have to return it to the video rental store today. =/

Super fun game, though. It has great levels.

Yeah, it hinders more than it helps, especially when people press A on Mario instead of a Goomba. On the Rolling Green Galaxy

I think CoStar is hilarious. I was playing it with Castro and because he has never played SM64 I helped him get his platformer legs by holding down enemies and whatnot.

Eh, the CoStar just requires some practice just like any part of any game.

My sister's actually pretty good at it now. Probably more helpful to me than I am to her.

Is the soundtrack even out yet? Most places I remember saying sometime in January, all I remember is an unofficial one, ripped from someone's TV presumably, with intros taken out because of Mario's flying into the planet noises, and bosses not in at all. Would that be the one with the missing tracks, or did you find a listing of the tracks for the real one? I'm real curious to know...

In Japan I think it is, or the one I have is a very good rip.

No, the one you have is not the official because the official does not come out for a few months. The one you have is a 40 something track rip from FFShrine that has soundeffects in the background and some splice work. It's not that great, but it does the job until we get the real thing.

A bit late to the game here, but in light of necroposting...

It's probably common knowledge by now to anyone who owns the game, or anyone who spoiled it for themselves by going to GameFAQs, but there's a 121st star at the very, very end.

My impressions of the game? It's more enjoyable to watch than it is to play... and I'm the only one I've seen play it. Yeah, I move Mario around, but looking at the scenery, the shells' brake lights, the little chain chomp doggie houses... The game's really funny in places I didn't expect. Tornado helicopter arms FTW.

The gameplay was much simpler than Super Mario 64, which was a minor disappointment for me. I especially missed having the ability to punch, kick and dive, but I managed. The automatic camera angles were a bit bothersome, and the inability to zoom out also made me shed half a tear. But all things considered, most of the angles they give you are ideal, so I don't really have much to complain about in that regard.

And whoever invented the purple coin map in Toy Time Galaxy needs to be shot.

The graphics are very nice, but functional. There's plenty of eye candy, especially when flying from one planet to another (the whole Lava Spire act comes to mind), but it doesn't get in the way of jumping and spinning. The music is also really neat; orchestrated with a dash of electronic here and there. The music composition itself is outstanding, especially the Gusty Garden Galaxy tune. And with those long-lost curves on the Power Stars, the game ranks in the upper tiers in games I'd like to perceive.

Something that I specifically dislike about what's in the game? That's a tough one to answer. The game is very much Super Mario 64 with new levels, and since I like that game, it's hard to find something that sticks out like a sore thumb from this one. Heck, even the bunnies are easier to catch this time around... um... ah! The one thing I hate...

When doing any "comet" mission, you get a "Retry?" prompt every time you die. Thanks, Nintendo! It's very difficult to pause the game FOR THE SAME OPTIONS when I die. You waste time like nobody's business on that one!

Oh well. The 20-up more than rectifies that issue.

The only complaint I have about this game is Ray Surfing on the green star stage.
ASdaldfk Who ever made that course needs to be dragged out onto the street and kicked.

Also, 20-up?

Am I the only person who beat that Ray Surfing stage on my first try? Seriously, it wasn't hard at all!

Nah, I did it too, but it felt hard when I did it, even if it was easy for me. Maybe I didn't like how it felt.
I'm not doing it again, though, no.

The Green Star Galaxy's were a little bit...

How do you say it...

Short and fun. But I was thinking that the Green Star Galaxy's would be longer and harder. and maybe there would be more than just one start per galaxy? I would have liked it better if they were harder.

I don't know why I put this here.
It's the evil Galactic Mario which irritates me, with his seemingly inhuman reflexes. His only flaw is he ignores a few optimal paths, but those stages I have to really grind and do cheap tricks to get past him.

Of course, now I'll probably see in the future some Speedruns in which the speedrunner leaps over him and flies directly to the goal...

If you've got a lot of lives to spare, you can stick on him and he coughs up star bits, and you can just pick those up. Not that I've done it, but I stuck on him for about a second before.

Got fed up with the Sling Pod Galaxy, though. I don't know if it's just natural difficulty or my inability to aim in a 3D environment or summat, but I died so many times that I capped out on Star Bits there and earned about 10 lives after finally getting victory.

Somewhat old wintery layout!
----------------------------------------------------

So, been playing a while after getting this on tuesday...

79 stars, 5 domes.

I have to say, first off, this is 100x better than sunshine. Much MUCH better. Despite the fact that I keep wanting to click B to dive :p. The controls are basically flawless for what they are, simple enough for a platformer. (I was happy they kept backflip and ground pound in)

The game itself is trippy. Seriously. The amount of effort that was put in to get gravity, stars, effects, levels, everything looking the way it does is amazing. running straight around planets, going through planets, jumping between planets, planets that have odd gravity. Moving between all of it with your camera in tact is the trippy part.

The graphics for this game are wonderful, yet not obtrusive. Flying between planets is never boring. Each galaxy is wonderfully unique in the way it was designed.

I could probably go on and on about how much I love this game, but I wont :3

PS: The soundtrack to this game is made of win and awesome.

Its easy as hell to gain lives in this game is what he probably meant. I know for a fact it is, considering that I got a letter from Peach and got 5 1-ups and not even a second later I had another letter with the same thing. That was 10 1-ups for just starting the game.

I needed all those for only a few of the levels though.

Same thing happened to me, it's a tough level to complete, I went back there later to grab star bits for the last few hungry Lumas though, it's really easy to rack up the star bits there.

Try long jumping while on one of the mushroom ships, you can do a complete loop around it, the physics are pretty awesome.
