just picked up
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 again as a sort of pre-bed gaming on my new Game Boy Light. even though it’s a GBC game technically, you can play it in shades of grey on the original GB b/c it’s one of those grey cartridges instead of the clear ones. i’ve said pretty extensively elsewhere about why i want to play games with restricted palettes, so i won’t reiterate that here.
anyway, this is my third attempt playing, i started a while ago when i first bought this cartridge but had trouble getting into it. seemed pretty confusing w/ very few clues as to what to do. and the system seemed so convoluted, so i was frustrated.
but now i’m a bit further in and can maybe see me going through this time.
but honestly, the more i play other Game Boy RPGs the more i think about what
Pokémon Gold/Silver did right. and how much more intuitive of a game it is. its sprites are gorgeous too. and yet the world is so expansive. i feel this way about
Link’s Awakening as well.
i’ll keep playing and see how i feel.
