Like, I can trace it back to my early childhood where my parents tutored me at arithmetic (to be 'ahead of the curve') and then kept me studying at home to be ahead of school's mathematics, in a way that helped me appreciate mathematics that most students wouldn't get from school (because of incompetent teachers, etc.), but in that respect I don't think I should be proud of having parents that decided to tutor me, y'know? I guess 'being able to intuit and visualize quickly' is nice though.

Other than that, with all the games I play and all their complex systems to master and take advantage of, I've been told I'm decent at analyzing situations and coming up with unusual solutions?

You're so lucky! I was taught math in a way that seemed designed to crush the spirits.

That's true. The fact that I had the opportunity, the resources, and support from my parents and some of my teachers to develop my math skills is something I was very fortunate to have, and it's something I recognize most people don't have.

It's still something I'm proud of because I put a lot of my own time and effort into achieving it along with that support, but I try to do my best to use it to pass along that support to others. I'm hoping that I can be like the teachers who encouraged and inspired me to others in the future.

The hardest part about figuring out what you're "good" at is that you're also your own worst critic, so even things that genuinely are good and impressive tend to get shut down by your own feelings, just because you (being you) think about how you could have done it so much better.

It's frustrating.

I've spent years comparing myself to other artists on the Internet, and of course, you'll *always* find someone better than you…

…and even looking at my own art, there's so much I want to be able to do better, so much I can see I'm doing wrong.

Between the two, it's taken me years to be kind enough to myself to say I'm "good" at drawing.

Re: maths - I can't tell whether I'm good at maths or not, but it certainly took me longer than it should have. I don't have anyone to really compare all that well to, but I might be decent at it. I certainly had a shit teacher for it near the end of (I think high school? The school system is arranged differently here and I keep forgetting what is equivalent to what.) He couldn't explain stuff at all, and it quite often managed to do basic stuff wrong. Stuff like adding two numbers to get seven, despite having done this stuff in his career for years. Sure, it's a mistake made while doing some algebraic thing, but still.

One more thing I thought of: I have very good analytic skill.

The own worst critic stuff is awful. Getting started working on something is hard enough (for some reason), and I don't need to feel like I'm wasting my time throughout the entire process.

I don't know if I can call myself "good" at drawing - I try to have a relaxed attitude to it, but I simply can't draw some of the stuff I want.

I don't know how to make a theme the proper way but this is the one I use that I made by editing the CSS myself in Stylish

omg that looks great. maybe add some Tamagotchi Angel stuff and talk to Xkeeper about how you can make it into a board theme and you’ll be my hero, magical tiny fairy.

I am very good at staying up at unhealthy hours stressing out about trying to fix things in personal projects. (I even have a deadline this time, hooray!)

I'm currently working on my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, so I've (hopefully) gotten pretty good at marriage counseling, although there's always plenty of room for growth.

In less important stuff, I'm naturally decent at fighting games. I've attended Evo five years straight, and try to attend one offline tournament a year, usually for Mortal Kombat.

I've also gotten pretty good at cooking too. My classically trained Italian fiance still outshines me, though.

I'm somewhat skilled at C# and Unreal, though I can't stop feeling like I'm so far behind where I should be right now. Thanks to work, I've also been picking up some Java skills, though the more I use Java, the more I miss C#
