Truly I have transcended this mortal realm.

I just got a 22" Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW (hooray for gift cards) and moved my older 22" ViewSonic VX2235wm to the secondary output, giving me a 3360x1050 desktop. I was using a 19" HP widescreen (until Xkeeper "stole" it ), so I'd already experienced the wonders of an extended desktop, but this just blows my mind.

Anyone else got a freakin' sweet dual-monitor setup they'd like to brag about share?

Wow, that is some large desktop space . Makes me wish I had those screen sizes .

I haven't tried having two moniters extending, seeing as though one of my moniters doesn't seem to work very well .

Welcome to the future.

I'm not sure the sizes of mine off hand, but it's a 16:10 and a 4:3 (which I think is 20 inches) side-by-side running at 1680x1050 and 1280x1024, for a total of 2960x1050. (32-bit colour of course. ) Side-by-side is awesome, it's like one contiguous screen. Also, the bigger one has component inputs, so I can play Wii and Xbox 360 on it too.

Just wondering, how do you use them? I usually have one window maximized on the left (the big one), and on the right I have specific spots for a bunch of small useful windows for quick access/viewing. About the only time I change that arrangement is when I use Photoshop or Nemu and need most of the left screen for the main window (and a hex editor/Textpad in the latter case). I was wondering if other people do this too.

I got my 27" last summer, so I got this nice 27" + 19" setup ... it runs 1920x1200 + 1280x1024, for a total of 3200x1200 (minus 1280x176), which is just a little bigger than 3360x1050 for total pixels

Such large space is great for both multitasking and fullscreen, playing on emulators almost feels like a TV (then I have a video input so I can do this, too)

As for how I use the space, it usually goes like this ... makes me wonder how I lived with the single 19" before, when everything was piled up and had to be constantly switched from the taskbar

So far, I've just kept mIRC maximized in the right window, so I can browse the intarwebz/play games/draw stupid pictures and keep track of unfolding drama at the same time. The color quality and brightness on the ViewSonic are pretty crappy compared to the Samsung (and I swear they're getting worse), making it particularly well-suited to text-based applications.

I used to have a dual-monitor setup before I got my laptop, and I just used it pretty fluidly. I think the one time I really used up most of the space was while using Lunar Magic, since I had all the dialogs open.

I'd do a Dual monitor setup, but you know, no room on my desk.

Yea, I had two monitors (both same model Dells, that should be a sign) until one broke a few weeks ago.

Hate.

I don't know why I put this here.
I have two monitors, a 1360 x 768 19 inch widescreen LCD, and a 19 inch 1024 by 780 CRT. Oddly, I almost never use the CRT, so it's more like an auxilliary monitor for me.

I can't blame you, I had one LCD and one CRT and the difference between the two was so strong I could barely look at the damn thing. LCDs FTW.

I don't know why I put this here.
Yeah, the switch between the two really hurt my eyes. I thought the LCD was making my eyes worse until I realized I could now see things in a sharper way than before--my eyes had apparently been losing their focus in order to work with the CRT.

So, yeah, I only put junk on there, occasionally I have a video on the LCD and IRC on the CRT. Of course, the CRT has (somehow) more correct colors at times, but I'm not about to argue about that--it has none of the contrast the LCD can have.

Well I noticed that Terminal 9pt is very nice on LCD, completely unreadable on CRT, so yeah.

Somewhat old wintery layout!
----------------------------------------------------

Ive had a dual monitor setup since last year.(19" on the left, 17" on the right).

I mainly use the left for my day-to-day junk, and the right houses all of my applications (IRC, AIM, etc) that I run.

I always wonder how I ever survived without dual monitors :p

I often use my TV as a secondary monitor, giving me 1824x768. I sort of wish Youtube would stay maximized if you made another window active so I could do something else on my laptop while watching something on the TV.

I also used to have a big ol' LCD which could go up to somewhere around 1600x1200, but it was enormous and I was afraid of breaking my desk if I put it there.

I connect my laptop and my desktop together and share a mouse and keyboard between them, so it's sort of like a dual screen setup...

I haven't experienced the feeling of "how did I ever live without two monitors?" Sometimes I don't even bother turning my laptop on, since my desktop is generally enough.

Eh, using a laptop as a second monitor kinda sucks. You have to boot it up, and it's sitting there making noise and wearing out its fans and such, and you can't position it as easily as a monitor. Also, actual monitors are usually bigger.

It also gives you more RAM and processing power than a simple monitor does.

Sure, but if all you want is a second monitor, for the difference in price, buy a monitor, dual-core CPU, and RAM upgrade.

I dont like Dual Screens, to me there isnt anything special about them.

However I want to get a 32" LCD HD 1080p Monitor here soon for my room. Im pretty close to getting one with the Sales and stuff going on.

Well, how about using it as your main monitor?
