I finally tried doing HTML (or I think mostly CSS?) this evening for a layout, the results of which you can see here for better or worse. I haven't been able to get the background image field to work in my experiments. (not that you'd be able to see it with the current layout I think?) I might be missing something, but the crappy test tile I made does "work" when used for an avatar so it's not that I'm using the wrong URL or anything.

The "background image" field is clunky and doesn't work well — it's been on the to-do list to remove for a while.

Remember when we had the fad of offset post layouts where I made the coolest layouts and then everyone was annoyed because it only worked for one theme?

I kinda wish all the themes were absolutely alike so I could make those layouts and actually use them again. I liked that.
