I like having long hair, I really like how it looks. What I don't like is having to untangle the mess with a brush, and it gets REALLY bad some times.

The place/time where it gets the most tangled is when I sleep, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips for preventing it getting tangled while sleeping? :V
(Or any other long hair related tips).

I used to braid mine, but that will also make it wavy in the morning.

If you like a bit of a wave, try that?

have you tried brushing before you go to sleep so all the tangles are out before then?

I also braid my hair at night, it's a lot more convenient and it makes it look not quite so messy in the morning (I can just unbraid it, get it wet, and it'll look okay)

I have curly hair so I can't really brush it though, only comb it out in the shower with the aid of conditioner.

Brush it often. I use a scrunchie on mine (two of them, now) and it sort of helps... but I also don't mind brushing my hair. I'd try braiding it but I don't know how.

Alternative reply: grab a hair and slide your finger down to the end. boom! you found a hair tip

Braiding is super-easy!

You need to divide your hair into three "ponytails", of as equal length as you can manage.
| | |
| | |
Then, you cross two adjacent strands
| X
|| |
|| |
Next, cross the third strand beneath the two you just crossed
| X
X |
|| |
and just keep repeating the process until you run out of hair! Tie it off at the bottom with a scrunchie or a band and you're good to go.

Sounds complicated, and I have no idea how you do that with only two hands. But then, I have issues getting a scrunchie on at a low point of my hair, too. I usually put it on as close as I can and just roll it down to where it needs to be.

Uuuuh, usually not.
I'm actually kinda bad at getting my hair brushed often. It's one more thing to think about and I just kinda have to down prioritize it or I'll just get even more stressed out than I already am . I usually brush it after I shower, and that's about it. :I

Also, yeah, I don't think I could manage braiding my hair. I have considered setting up a hair bun though, but I'm unsure if that would help or not..., plus I actually need to get a better hair fork for that. I could try getting some scrunchies to see if that helps too. Hmmm...

Pro tip: You can brush your hair while doing other things. If you have something you're watching or listening to, just do it at the same time.

(Though I don't do it often enough either...)

Most of the things I do at home is in front of the computer, and I basically always use headphones, in fact! I don't even own any speakers!

I also kinda like doing it front of a mirror so I can better see what the hell I'm doing with my hands. (And to better see things I might have missed to brush....

Spend enough time brushing and there's very, very little you end up missing

Yeah, I have a hard time brushing my hair too. I actually had quite long hair until about a month ago. I did braid it for the night, so I recommend that. The hair was so long I thought for a long time that it would be a shame to get rid of it, but I really didn't give it the care it needed... So eventually I just had to decide whether I want to have long hair or good hair and I got rid of 20cm or so.

The hair is much easier to brush and care for now... I do still objectively have long hair, and people have even told me I look more feminine >v> so I think I'll be keeping it shoulder length in the long term.

Actually, that brings up a good point. Split ends can make tangles so much worse. It may be time for a hair cut!

I'm reasonably certain my overly curly hair hates me, so I get buzz cuts every few months when it becomes too much of an asshole to dance around.

I had very long hair when I was in college. I never really brushed it, just combed it daily after showering and a dose of conditioner. I never had to worry about brushing, but my issue was always dealing with frizzing and split ends.

I eventually got so sick of it that I just ended up cutting it.

I feel this. I have very frizzy hair, and every few years I cut it short, have short hair for a while, and then something happens and I let it grow again.

It's long right now because I can't get to a hairdresser and I can't afford a hair cut. So I wear it back all the time.

Probably too expensive, because Australia, though tbh I'm biased by being able to get my hair cut at school for $5.
