I've wanted to make this thread for a while, but kept forgetting. Anyway, what kind of material/bed/rock do you fall asleep on?

For me, I usually lay two folded over comforters down on the floor , a thin pillow, and use a sheet plus a 3rd comforter to cover up with. I got sick of my extremely uncomfortable mattress, and I've found that I prefer the floor, even to other mattresses I've slept on. I eventually plan to get a more permanent solution (maybe one of those shikibuton things) but not in the mood to spend any money on something like that right now, and I'm perfectly fine with what I'm currently doing.

I have a big queen sized mattress/ensemble. It's over 10 years old, but still pretty comfortable… starting to sag though in places. If we have the money after a few more pressing things, I'd like to buy another one.

A queen size, though I wish we had a king. A queen is just a bit too small for two people who like lots of room

I don't seem to be difficult regarding mattresses. Back in the shithole I was given some fancypants latex mattress, but... dunno? I didn't feel much of a difference vs the old regular mattress.

Then for about one year I've been sleeping on one of those convertible things that aren't even a real mattress, and had no issue with it.

Current mattress seems to be one of those foam chunk things. Okay with me.

We splurged a little last year and got an adjustable bed frame with a memory foam mattress. We got an excellent deal on the mattress from a local retail store because we told them initially we just wanted the adjustable frame only and we were going to get the mattress online since it was much cheaper. Like $400 off of Amazon for a king size. It wasn't even one of your typical brands (Serta, Tempurpedic, Sealy, etc). But they said they would match the price from one of their name brands and we ended up getting the mattress from their store for about $700 off the retail. Before that, we had been using my wife's 12 year old mattress from before we got married. It was one her parent's bought and it was high quality so it was hard to replace for something that was in our price range. It took a little getting used to memory foam over a traditional spring and pillow top but now I'm used to it and prefer the feel. I can sleep on my back which I never used to do before.

Sleeping in general just gives me gas, but that might because I tend to have dinner right before bed and also I sleep with a CPAP

Currently sleeping on a twin bed while the fiance and I are planning a move. Thankfully, it's comfortable enough.

Extra long single mattress on a box spring.

Alternatively, and more often than I'd like, my desk.

Single mattress with a memory foam topper. While the mattress is ridiculously small for my 6' 3" self, the memory foam topper is so damn comfortable.

But damn, I NEED to get a bigger bed.

I've got a double mattress, with a box spring and a frame (nothing fancy, besides a headboard). It's good enough!

A normal-sized mattress on a normal-sized bed that I can only describe as a triple bunk bed. Like, it's like a normal bunk bed, but below the first bed there's another one that slides along the floor. I don't sleep on that one, I sleep on the bottom (middle?) one.

Originally this bunk bed was used by everyone in this house, each person in a separate bed (and I was forced to sleep on the top bed), but then things happened and now I have the entire bunk bed for myself.

I don't know what type of material the mattress is made of, and I don't really care because it's comfortable and that's all that matters.

I used to sleep on a very comfortable appropriately-sized bed with a cute little headboard and a nice comfortable mattress topper and high-quality lavender sheets… and then my partner moved in and it was way too small for her (what did she expect I am a tiny fairy !!)

So we slept on the floor for a while in a blanket nest, and sometimes we still do when we have guests over.

We ended up so used to sleeping on the floor that when we finally got a human-sized bed we asked for the firmest mattress they had x.x it's pretty comfortable, though! and decadently huge, I think it's queen size? Easily sleeps three.

I miss my nice sheets though…

It's amazing how sleeping on the floor can change your thoughts and opinions about beds/how to sleep in general.

Unlike you though, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a regular mattress

My extra firm mattress is soooo nice, omg

It's to the point where I go over to a partner's or friend's place or to a hotel or something and sleep in their bed and like, it feels like I'm going to sink into it and disappear… I can't get comfortable at all!

I really recommend people try firm beds, they're really nice

Conversely, I have no idea how someone can sleep on a firm bed. If the mattress I'm on isn't basically a glorified marshmallow, then I have a tough time sleeping on it.
