Each item has a hidden category used to sort them on the list. The two items are identical in every way except for having different categories. It's a mystery why there is a duplicate, though.

As for the other thing, it's because the weapon you're holding is worth 42 gold coins, and you're previewing a weapon that's worth 0 gold coins. When you preview an item, it also considers the money you get from selling the old item and buying the new item. 60% of 42 is about 25, so that's how many gold coins you would get.
