If you're wondering why I was quiet, now you know.

Fun things:

- It was cool enough that it doesn't feel hot outside, and the ocean wasn't ice-cold yet either. Not that I went that far out into it (only waist-deep at most), but it was nice.

- Having a nice beach means messing around in the sand and building an impromptu (and very simple) sand-castle with BMF. And then making goofy faces in the sand, too.

- The pool at the hotel was heated and felt really good after being on the beach, plus it's deeper than the one at home (7' vs 5')

- Being away from home was nice, too; it was my first vacation out of town since 2015, and my first vacation explicitly for myself

- The hotel we stayed at was the same one my family used to go to 11+ years ago, so there were lots of memories, good and bad

- Being in California meant that I got to play scratchies again, which are fun in limited doses

- Even though I brought my laptop and Switch (as did almost everyone else), I didn't use my Switch at all and only used my laptop for finding places to eat or checking on stuff at night, and didn't put off doing other things for it

- Getting away from work was nice...


Bad things:

- ...right up until a super-anxiety-inducing call on the way there and then spending most of the full day we had stuck on my laptop debugging a release-day thing

- Driving isn't bad, but driving non-stop for 160 miles (the trip home) or during a lot of traffic (the way there) is exhausting, stressful, and achey. My hands hurt a lot, now

- Having to come back so soon

- Almost non-existent planning; we only decided to do the trip "for real" a week before we actually did it, so it was really expensive

- I didn't take nearly enough pictures, mostly because I was a little preoccupied with spending time out



Kinda wish it was longer, but I'm glad to be home some, too
