Time for a new thread, I guess (nobody else made one? )

As for me, uh, about 660 more miles on my piece-of-shit vehicle. I don't think I actually bought anything over the last few days other than food, drinks, and gas. And the occasional scratchy ticket, of which I made a grand total of about -$5 on over the course of the trip.

I bought and have been playing Destiny 2 for most of my free time the past few days

i'm also looking to buy a Pocket Monsters Midori cart of the 1.0 variety - there's a seller on ebay who put up a dozen carts at $5 each, i shot him a message asking about the label imprints to see if he has any.

i also bought something else today, should arrive within a week

Picked up a few new NES games for the collection.

Most recently, found Family Feud for NES with manual at a game shop for $9. It usually goes for like, $12-14-ish cart only. Not bad.

Amazon was clearing out refurbished 2015 7" Fire Tablets for 20% off, both the 8 and 16 GB versions, so I ended up getting the 8 GB one for ~28€.

It's a decent little thing, 1.3 GHz quad core w/ 1 GB RAM running Fire OS 5, based on Android 5, works well for surfing the net, watching YouTube and the like; also tried MS' Remote Desktop app, thinking "well, maybe I could use it to control Winamp or whatever to play music w/o getting up from the sofa?", but it's kinda fiddly to use, so I dunno if I'll do that on a regular basis.

I didn't plan on getting a tablet, especially not so soon after getting (=having to get) a new phone, but I got a mail from a friend saying "Even tho you've already spent a bunch of money recently: [link here] - Your chance " so, uh... I took the chance <.<

Also still need to get a cover or case, and probably a microSD card for it, should've just done that when I ordered the tablet itself.

I'm thinking of getting a cheapo tablet, at least so I can watch Netflix in bed. Hope there's a similar sale on Amazon US sometime soon.

This is technically from last month, but I kinda feel like bragging about this.

I paid $8, which is quite a bit more than I tend to, but I dunno, the novelty seemed worth the cost. Both are new. Volume 1 included Stellar 7, King's Quest V and Doom Episode 1, and Volume 2 has Battle Chess, Space Quest IV, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective and an educational game. Both packages have other educational or informational stuff like map CDs and the like.

Shimano MF-HG37 to replace my aging 6-speed Suntour freewheel after it started skipping in third gear, and a huge box of nag champa incense to burn. Mostly trying to save money for a bit, but I might end up having to get a chain whip just to get the aforementioned suntour thing off too... It's one of the 2-notch style, and the only removal tool has super shallow, inadequate prongs that like to take bits of freewheel body with them even if you put it in a vise, so one large chunk out of a notch later I have to disassemble the entire freewheel to pull it off.

We bought Lego parts and made an Infinity Cube. Then I made another one. I also unmade it a few times so it could be made again. And we got parts for my nephew to make one too.

I really wanna get into Legos again.

I'm actually really, really good with creating stuff in it and I had this idea last time I passed through Boston to make a Lego replica of one of the subway stops just for fun. If I actually had the pieces for it, I'd go do it.

What's stopping you? Time? Money? I'm betting it's a bit of that last one… Lego gets pretty expensive! We're lucky to have somewhere nearby that specialises in Lego so we can order individual pieces, but it still gets pricey. Our Infinity Cubes cost $16 each, but only because they had a 30% off sale.

Yeah it's mostly the money. I ain't makin' enough to get anything so far.

I have some stuff at home, but like....it's really the money trying to get all kinds of legos for that purpose.

Dad went and bought a Switch! It's funny; he'd been watching a lot of Super Mario Odyssey videos and was quite set on getting a Switch not long after it released, just before November. Over the space of less than a week, it went from "Oh, I'll get one before November definitely" to "yeah, bought one, it's arriving next week" to "actually, no, it's being delivered tomorrow!"

Second-hand Switch, and it was a very good price. £430 for the Switch, screen protectors, Pro controller, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Breath of the Wild and Disgaea 5.

There's actually a nice personal element to it. He's been talking about how little he plays games now, and he's realised it's because it's just not Nintendo. I think he forgot just how much he enjoys Nintendo games. It arrived around 7pm last night, and we were both exhausted at that point. Dad had been at work, which started at 4 in the morning, and I'd been up since 1am because of course. We're basically dead to the world, but then the Switch arrives, we pop in MK8D for a test, and it was like we were revitalised. I honestly can't remember the last time Dad and I did multiplayer in something and just enjoyed ourselves that much.

I'm definitely a PC gamer first and always will be, but Nintendo always has that little ineffable quality going for it.

I bought more Bialetti coffee stuff. I already mentioned the grinder in another thread, but I also ordered a larger Moka Express pot, so I can make coffee for guests (without waiting for the 3 cup one to cool down, then cleaning it, setting it up again…). It should be delivered today!

I should stop spending money though, as I'm not working, so I'm not earning any money. But the coffee thing is important. I need coffee with all this baby-related sleep deprivation, and I might invite other mums around and I'd like to offer some decent hospitality.

Shit I should probably do something about my tea situation then too, so I can offer all the hot drinks. I never did get the hang of tea.

i really hated the iPhone 6, so it surprised me that i’d like the iPhone SE so much. but somehow this feels like what my phone should have felt like all along. it’s the perfect size & is quite snappy. the silver fits in w/ a lot of the other things in my home, as well. very happy w/ this.

edit: it fits in my front pocket!!!!

The SE is a nice size for a phone. Seems these days they are getting bigger, when once they were getting smaller.

I am getting a Ring Video Doorbell installed by an electrician today. We want it properly wired in, instead of changing the batteries. My husband has been too disorganised to call the electrician, so it's a bit of a surprise for him.

A vape pen (/battery) and a cartridge for it. I don't know if they have better names.

I bought Cryptark from GOG.com, release sale. Pretty fun roguelike with the risk / reward / budgetting aspect molded into it. I also got Metroid: Samus Returns as digital download. Gamesssss.
