I think this might be why the photobucket thing is happening.

As for features, I'd love a drastically cut down version for mobile, at least for phones (not so much for tablets). Like, in the forum list view, perhaps just the new/hot icon, the thread name, and last posted by information. Just the basics.

And have the threads look like the thread history more (yeah, I like layouts but not on a phone). Or perhaps if we're having them, then no left sidebar or something?

Cut a lot of stuff out of the reply page too… the entire left column is a bit superfluous. Mood avatar could be condensed to a drop down or something, all inline.

Basically anything that eats up sideways real estate and could be removed I'd love to see removed… or condensed. Perhaps optional… maybe a mobile layout preference setting so if you want the bigger version you can still select it?

Just ideas… finding it frustrating from my phone.

The Photobucket thing rewrites any Photobucket URLs, they aren't actually changed. For example, your minipicture still has the right URL, but for some reason it's affecting your avatar; it's possible it's conflicting with something, but I am not sure what at the moment.

Would be a lot easier if there was any templating system, so I could swap stuff, but it's all built directly into the code. Oops.

The board has a sort-of detected "mobile mode" that tries to make the page slightly less awful; if you're using the Night theme (and it looks like you are), you can tell if the board is detecting it properly by checking if you see the header image with the triangles or just the "Jul" header text.

It temporarily* overwrites your settings to use the Compact thread layout and disables post layouts, as well as adding a few other "simple tweaks" here and there.

If you aren't seeing those, try setting your thread layout to Compact and just turning off layouts, threads should be a lot more usable then.


(Mood avatars are kind of a hack and might be resolved in a better way in the future...)

With the increased activity, if it holds up, I think a useful feature would be to send someone a PM when they are quoted by someone else on a thread. This could be opt in or opt out.

I implemented this on a Drupal forum I made by making it possible to mention users with the pattern @UserName. This not only allows people to mention others and have them know about it, but also means you can replace "Originally posted by FieryIce" with "Originally posted by @FieryIce" to tie in PM-on-quotes with the mentions system.

I imagine this would help a lot to encourage people to continue conversations with other users without having to check all the previous threads they posted in to see if anyone replied.

Bonus points if @Mentions are linked to the mentioned user's profile and get the username's color, too. Example of what I mean: https://i.imgur.com/llydjPV.png
