I like this layout and I was asking if it would be available year round...
Nice going Boourns!
Hey, here is an idea. If they don't like it, ban them until Christmas is over and things are back to normal |

Originally posted by christmas13 YOU may thank him but others shit all over him. THAT is what pisses him off more. Not to be mean towards the few that do thank him, but when over half of the people that know about it don't thank him and just flat out request for more features or fixed functions, I'd be pissed too.
That's how doing anything on the internet - and, for that matter, in real life - almost always ends up. Very little good receives thanks, but most disagreement is vocal. I suspect that the reason for this is that when something is done that people like, they simply don't feel the need to comment; they're not looking for any change, and the feelings of others aren't really a concern to most of them. However, if they don't like it, they'll want it to change, which in most situations won't happen unless someone speaks up, so even the nicer people will comment about it.
Assuming that half of the people who like a change actually bother to comment on it - which is a generous assumption, since most just don't care enough either way - you'd need over 66% of the board to like every single thing you do. As I said, that's a generous assumption; knock it down to 25% (which is what I generally expect) and you need to please 80% of the board to get an overall positive response.
Ever since I realized this, I stopped focusing on the overall response and started focusing on the specific responses I get. Well, I try too; when I get too emotionally involved with something, I tend to react a little more like Xk (except more depressed than angry). That's generally a sign that I need to step back and distance myself from whatever it is for a day or two.

Why is it that anyone can go and act as asses but as soon Xkeeper gets a little amd everyone goes apeshit over it?
Maybe all dumb asses should notice that THIS IS HIS BOARD! Which could in short be translated to: "Board owner does whatever he wants whenever he wants." After all beggars can't be chooser you take what you get and you be happy with it or you just go somewhere else.

| Yes. Well, I'm still amazed how a simple question got out of hand to become this argument. |

I take it you haven't been on acmlm boards for long have you? They tend to get a lot of drama over silly things.

175 days | | | Yeah, it's an unfortunately common occurrence here.
People who think they own the place treat the people who do all the work like crud and insult what they do, then act surprised when the people who do the work turn on them. It's happened over and over again, and it irritates me.
I would make some sweeping statement about them, however it's Christmas for crying out loud. I'm just going to say this:
Give Xkeeper a break. Not because it's an obligation, not because he owns the board, and especially not for any reason involving "He is the greatest" or whatever is the latest gibberish thrown around.
But because he is a human being and it is Christmas, for cripe's sake. Would you like it if I suddenly began making a fit over things you did that I didn't think were perfect... even though I didn't ask you to do those things? Even if those things had nothing to do with me? Even if they did?
Would you like it if I contested everything you did which remotely annoyed me in the whiniest, stupidest, most annoying voice possible?
All the time?
Forever?
All of this passively throughout the year, then increasing to hurricane intensity on Christmas Eve and Christmas day for some reason?
No. Nobody would. Even stoics like me get fed up eventually. Especially on Christmas.
So I just have this honest proposal. Let's just can the nastiness, the complaining, the yelling, the hating, between all people and all sides, just at least for a day or two. It couldn't hurt, could it? Perhaps the lack of insults would make people realize how much they have in common with one another? Or maybe allow for a peaceful holiday season?
I dunno, I'm just one person, but this Christmas it's been people at one another's throats, and I for one cannot allow it to continue unabated anymore.
You people who want to complain can continue all you want, but I for one am going to try to be a nice person rather than be a part of the maleovolence (Sp?) being thrown around.
And I thank those who have chosen not to indulge in the fighting already. There aren't enough of those people to go around, it seems. I for one am sorry if I said anything to help contribute to the badness of what went on in this topic (even indirectly.)

 | My, this thread has certainly filled up with replies since I last checked it.
If it means anything, my earlier post was simply filing what I thought was a bug report (the color scheme field not doing what it was designed to do). I didn't know that it was a FORCED SCHEMEEEEEEE.
I didn't think I sounded like I was complaining, so sorry if it seemed that way...
