Dog's been sick, so I decided that, while I'm downstairs looking after her, I'll drag my 360 down and play some of the library I've accumulated on the big-ass TV.

Finally, after 15 years, sat down and beat Halo, albeit the Anniversary edition. A really fun game, but The Library onward is just a downward slope. Now just started chapter 5 of Halo 2. After that, 3, ODST, Reach, 4.

So Breath of the Wild leaked online early, and I've been giving that a go until my Switch arrives (HOPEFULLY tomorrow...)

Man. Holy shit. The previews had me hyped to the point where I didn't think it could live up to my expectations... but it's better than I was expecting. So that's something.

I'm dying a ton, but a proper multi-slot autosave system + one manual save makes death penalties very minor. It encourages a lot of exploration/experimentation!

pro-tip: don't hit electric dudes with a metal sword.

it does exactly what you'd expect, but you don't expect it.

I've been playing so much BotW that I basically live downstairs now. Holy shit, it is SO good. I abandoned the main quest for ages to go exploring, and try and find a certain forest with a certain item in it, which I now have.

I may post how much time I've played later. I didn't realise the Wii U kept track of that, so it'll be fun to see.

Oh, getting enough rupees is ridiculously easy right now.

One dungeon left before I assume the game will direct me towards the endgame, about 50 hours in. Now I'm just trying to get a bunch of sidequests out of the way and grind for the various materials I need.

I'm also really tempted to raid the castle too. I know there's an item in there I really want.

Needed a break from Zelda, so I dove into the Mass Effect: Andromeda trial.

It's uh... not good.

It's got everything that should be in a Mass Effect game, and so far it's lore-heavy like the best of Bioware RPGs, but god damn if everything about it feels unfinished as hell. I shouldn't be getting stuck on geometry as much as I have, and Frostbite can definitely push out gorgeous games at >30 FPS framerates on console, so..

I beat Breath of the Wild. Oh my god. I was initially really annoyed that even the Wii U digital download was £60, but that game was definitely worth it. Perhaps now I can try some Horizon: Zero Dawn!
