Finally started VVVVVV the other day. Finished it yesterday. Got the last trinket today.

Really should've tried this game sooner. The Tower is the best level ever.

Can't believe after managing the trinket at Doing Things the Hard Way and eventually fighting through But Not As I Do, my biggest roadblock was a goddamn conveyor belt. The timing's a bastard on Timeslip.

Arkham Knight + season pass was only £7.50 on Steam, and it appears Rocksteady finally fixed the bugger, so I bought it!

Also the Ezio Collection. Platinumed Assassin's Creed II and currently working my way through Brotherhood.

I'm reading a visual novel right now. Not naming it so I can avoid spoilers and because it's really niche anyway. It's been pretty damn entertaining so far and I've been reading for a little more than a month (56 hours of "playtime"). The way the story is progressing, there are probably a ton more hours I will need to sink into it. I'll gladly do so.

Depending how I feel about the endings and if I'm not lazy, maybe I'll dig for TCRF material. Who knows.

Watch Dogs 2!

It's so much more fun than the first one, mainly because the whole world has more personality.

Also starting Final Fantasy 15 today, as soon as it gets delivered.

Got a big pile of Xbox 360 games, so I'm working through them. Currently juggling Saints Row The Third, Lego Marvel Avengers, Lost Odyssey and Burnout Paradise, which was a lot more fun than I expected it to be.

Also grabbed Batman: The Telltale Series because it was free. Unfortunately, it's also a big sack of garbage, so I don't have it any more.

Since I'm on break, I've had the rare occasion to start going through my Steam backlog. I've owned some of these games for years now, but I'm just getting around to them.

  • Darksiders - This is the best Zelda game I've played in a while. The overall demonic and violent aesthetic of the game is a little silly, but it doesn't take itself too seriously for it to be a problem. Hacking and slashing is pretty satisfying, at least.

  • Titan Quest - This is the best Diablo game I've played in a while. The mythological setting is appreciated when most other western RPGs are D&D flavored. My favorite thing about it is that your inventory isn't your worst enemy in this game.

  • Red Faction Guerrilla - This is the best Grand Theft Auto game I've played in a while. The main appeal of the game is that just about everything is highly destructible, so you can live your dream of demolishing an entire building with a sledgehammer. The missions are cool too, I guess.

  • Read Only Memories - This is the best... Actually, I don't play many games like this, so I have little to compare it to. Regardless, it's a really good visual novel / point & click adventure. The characters and the non-dystopian cyberpunk setting are pretty original and charming, and it's all tied together with an interesting plot. I also appreciate the level of diversity expressed in the game, but it's a good experience either way.

relevant:
I been playing shell shock live lately... (an hour or so per day, it's so damn grindy, and some of the other players are dicks... (or at least, arrogant because of their high levels, and OP premium weapons...))

slightly irrelevant:
Peter Jackson's King Kong Signature Edition by Ubisoft CD-ROM, WINDOWS
I'd like a somewhat non-biased review on this, well... the lite edition
Is this worth investing my time in playing?
I got it for like $2 at a yardsale store type of place, so it's not really a loss in monetary investment.
But, is it worth me sinking any time into it? (assuming it's intact)
That's actually pretty valuable to me at present.

Most recently played, so the most likely to be continued as well, are:

- Superdimension Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls (PS Vita)
- Pokemon Moon (3DS)
- Halo (Mac OS X)

Nep-Sega I was interested in getting anyway and just randomly noticed it to be cheaper than usual on Amazon one day over Christmas, so I picked it up for 28€ instead of the 40€ it's back up to now. It's what you'd expect from a Neptunia game (as far as I can tell, having played three other ones), i.e. a technically competent but not outstanding game, with a lot of meta humor, in-jokes, etc., but which can be pretty fun. Also, a new overclocking plugin was released yesterday for HENkaku, which does help improve the iffy framerate.

Pokemon Moon... well, uh, it's Pokemon Moon! Latest mainline game in the franchise, new generation and all, and I think it's great. I do have a few issues with it, but overall the positives outweigh the negatives.

And finally, Halo on Mac is another installment in the "xdaniel is messing around with Mac stuff again, this time having put together a pretty respectable Power Mac G4 after a bunch of setbacks". I've also already gotten way further into the story mode here than what I remember from playing the Xbox original some 8 years or so ago.

I've been thinking about getting this, not only because it actually looks like a good time, but I live in the area and have some strong ties to some of its locations.

Seeing it in action was surreal--driving on I-880 onto and through the Bay Bridge, for example, or running through Stanford.

Giving Xenoblade Chronicles a shot again on 3DS. Never played past the first portion in Colony 9 before, and so far I'm enjoying it?

Except it's gone from "I'm almost overlevelled without really grinding, and it's super enjoyable" to "I'm getting fucking destroyed by the same mob of Mechons continuously" and it's a little bit jarring.

Stayed at a friend's house last week, and I finally plowed straight through the 200 hour mark on GTAV; now sitting nicely at 220 hours. Bought myself a Zentorno and a bunch of weapons, fell down to under $4,000, so I couldn't get my Zentorno back after I accidentally blew it up. Now I'm sitting around $30k. Getting money is haaaaard.

I ended up getting a copy of pokemon moon with my purchase of a new 3DS XL (used), so I have been playing that. I have also gotten into stardew valley again, which is kind of fun. 'w'

WIP

Started Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past last night... online... (I have my reasons)
I decided I hate NESBox, it can be so friggin' slow (or rather, firefox is becoming an unusable box of lag...) After getting tired of random freezes, I decided to just download ZSNES and the ALttP ROM when I finally got home from running errands today...

Managed to re-do all the progress I made last night fairly quickly. (in fact, many times faster than I initially had made it)

So far completed the first two dungeons!

Consulted the walkthrough for four things:
1. lag caused me to skip explanations
2. a simple block puzzle actually managed to stump me
3. a relatively simple puzzle still managed to stump me
4. Didn't feel like doing trial-and-error on a boss that took me like 30 re-tries to even REACH, but my guesses were fairly accurate

I just want to beat one of these old games with minimal/NO walk-through usage...
But, I can live with using it on maybe 5-10% of the game... ideally less

So far I'd say I am doing alright with that...

I started playing Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness today. I don't know how long we've had it, but it's just been sitting in the cupboard, unplayed. I'm really enjoying it so far!
