As the title says; ask me anything. This might end up a little more in-depth than the ask-me site I was using on Twitter, since I have more room to reply (and it won't get lost in the noise over there).

I do mean almost anything, though things that are too personal might get you a private message reply (or a rejection). But for the most part I'll be completely open.

Rahan, because of all the administrators, he is never around.

(I do not know why his account still has admin access, actually. His main contribution was back when it started, helping port over the original website's pages.)

Ooh this could be fun! Do you have any plans / ideas for bringing more activity to the forums? What do you see as the future of Jul?

The internet has changed so much since back when forums were more popular, but to this day active forums still exist. I'm sure we could pull off a revival somehow, and that would be exciting!

I do not have any plans other than making an attempt to be here more often. Between job and home, I have not been checking the forums much. But the key is really just that activity causes activity. If you post it, people will come. The problem is that nobody has anything to post any more, because it is much easier to talk elsewhere.

Put another way, making threads is hard. Replying to them isn't (usually). One reason I would imagine that sites like Reddit primarily have people posting links to other people's content. (Reddit doesn't even award non-links karma, actually.)

Edit: I would like to get the Twitter bot running again, though. It was nice having that. Maybe I can get the code off of Sanqui.

Meeting and moving in with BMF54123 in 2007, even if it didn't go as well as we'd hoped. Meeting Raspberry, too. Maybe late 2003, when I was finally starting to open up, even if I was still disastrously immature. 2009, starting TCRF. That was finally the time that I managed to do something that had a big impact on things, and has helped sustain this place for years.

Most of my time here, sans a few very specific bad times, have been pretty good. But it might also be that over the last 16 years I have forgotten some (most) of them.

If you'd be able to nuke a single website from the internet forever, which one would you choose? And for what reason?

I don't actually know. The problem is that any site you choose to nuke will probably reappear soon after, because the worst websites are also run by the worst people. But if I had to make a snap decision, maybe Fgbezsebag (rot13), a really nasty racist place.

Do you think 2017 will be a fun year?

I think it will be.

Anyway, why did you end up living with BMF et al. instead of staying on your own? Personal choice, or something more practical?

Why is your mood avatar disabled (and always permanently set on the tired face)?

Also, not a question but it's related, but I just started watching an LP of Tales of Symphonia because when I saw the video's thumbnail I recognized that character and went "Oh, that character is the one in Xkepeer's avatar! I must watch this!".

Where do you see TCRF 10 years from now? Do you think you'll continue to carry the torch for the site or do you imagine handing the torch off to someone within that time frame?

Considering what is in store (you did see who won the US election, right?), no, I do not think it will be a good year.

It was a chance to get out of Las Vegas and try to room with a good friend, and get away from my family. It just did not work out because I didn't manage to find stable employment while I was there (and some later issues that came up...)

But it is better now.

Just because it is the one I used most often (and really, the only fitting one). I have actually forgotten what the others were by this point, admittedly.

I plan to keep hosting it for as long as I am able. 10 years is a little far out, but I think we can manage.

As for where it is, I either see it legally ground into powder (DMCA, C&D etc) or just keeping on, but I imagine that the content well will "dry up" so to speak. Newer consoles are getting harder and harder to crack open with every passing revision, and we've done a good job of picking apart a lot of the earlier games.

A couple I'm slightly curious about, were there ever thoughts/plans to make something more digestible out of content on TCRF? I'm thinking something along the lines of DidYouKnowGaming or Unseen64, which afaik have both pulled from TCRF for videos. I know the niche is basically filled, but a "straight from the source" ish thing would've been cool.

Also, back when Jul first got up an running, did you have any expectations on where it'd be today?

well... you know.

A lack of time, energy, and .... well, mostly time has made it difficult. I am also just not good at it, as much as people seem to tell me I am a "good writer".

When Jul (technically Justus League 2 then) started I imagined it would be similar to the original JL in that it would be a very quiet reserved place without much going on. When the Big Split happened and it became Jul proper, I think I expected of it about what came of it; a decent place for a few years. Beyond that, I had been largely predicting a slow slide into obsolescence as comment-areas and social media took off.

Thanks for sticking around and keeping the place running. This place means a lot to me, and I'm sure to a lot of us here, even if I'm/we're not posting very often. There are a lot of good memories here.

Oh, right, questions.

What coding project are you most proud of?

No thanks required. I am just glad that things have slowed down (in terms of "exciting things"); no longer do I need to maintain a backup of this every hour in the event someone finds one of the various holes

(I still have daily backups somewhere, though.)

I don't really have one... I have not done a lot of major coding projects, or really any coding project. I have started a few of them, but never really got anywhere.

Maybe the biggest one would be the one I worked on at work recently, but I can't really talk about that (and it isn't really impressive or anything, just "working").

What's some media (games, comics, music, etc.) that's meaningful to you on a personal level, and why is it meaningful?
