Hey, so there's a number of VC Dumps with different hashes that have been catalogged on the No-Intro Dat-o-matic since February with some seemingly significant changes, but I've been at a loss trying to dig up info for them. These include: Mega Man Zero 4, Super Mario Advance 1/Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Advance 3/Yoshi's Island, and Super Ghouls'n Ghosts. Everyone knows about the E-Reader levels added in Super Mario Advance 4's release on the Wii U, and to an extent people know about all the Battle Network changes (at least they're documented somewhere). It makes me curious because comparing Zero 4 and Ghouls'n Ghosts in HxD shows some fairly big differences, it's not like it's a single byte change or anything, but there's not a single piece of info around anywhere for them. SMA and SMA3 seem fairly mundane in comparison, though.
Here's some info:
Title - Hash (SHA1)
Super Mario Advance (Virtual Console).gba - B646CE9765A5061AAC9F1A52346A1F5E42B3D871 (only 30 bytes changed)
Super Mario Advance 3 - Yoshi's Island (Wii U VC).gba - DC7868B5300584E7970FE628CC35090E72F98A39 (only 19 bytes changed)
Super Ghouls'n Ghosts (Virtual Console).gba - D323FAEAAACD0C09157EF62128BCCB541DD0AC39
Mega Man Zero 4 (Virtual Console).gba - 24A774446C8F652C78BB4BD938FC57C612DB3D6C
Seeing these makes me curious as to how many of these are flying under the radar because if there's not info out for names as big as mega man or super mario advance 3, who knows what else is cropping up? The no-intro dat-o-matic only has the hash for one of the VC battle net games, but there's patches and documentation for all 6, plus battle chip challenge which boggles my mind (I'm trying to get hashes of the original roms to submit right now but it's just bizzare). If anyone could help to shed light on these I'd love it. |

May also be worthwhile finding dumps of the non-ROM files too, as there might be some emulator tricks or memory patches going on.
Edit: also, theres already a Wii U VC thread, if you want to use that. Also, there is some documentation of the SMA4 changes on the wiki.

I don't know what you mean by non-rom files. If you mean a decrypted dump of the VC I have those. I didn't see a Wii U VC thread but I can take it there. I'm aware of the SMA4 changes but these two have piqued my interest because I couldn't find anything about them. |

I mean the files that aren't ROMs. If Wii U VCs are like 3DS VCs then some VCs will patch their ROMs temporarily, using external data. This may not be the case though - it'd just be a precaution to keep the non-ROM files somewhere, like this thread:

Ah, I understand. I have Decrypted VC dumps of all of the ones I'm not sure about so I should be good on that front. rpx and bins all intact. |
